This meme encapsulates rather well one of the reasons why I repented of my atheism. The meme suggests a morality without God that no atheist I ever knew, including myself, could ever put their finger on. Yes, one could accept a utilitarian view of ethics, but the bottom of the view falls out once one asks why they should protect their neighbor if it means I do not obtain maximal good for myself. And what does "good" mean anyway? Why must I, the atheist, give up maximal hedonic pleasure for the greater good of the many? After all, there are no real consequences apart from what society establishes and those are ultimately maleable.
No, I eventually found such a view undesirable because it was destitute and left me empty. Thanks be to God for His mercy and grace! Thank God that He reveals to us that the punishment we deserve because we have broke His commandments has been taken by Christ Jesus at the cross and because of what Jesus did for you and me we have the forgiveness of our sins! Yes, God does love us and He gave His only begotten Son so that all who believe in Him may have eternal life! That message of the good news we have in Christ is what created contrition and faith in my heart and killed atheism for me back in 2005.
Now that the midterm election is over and worry, fear, and angst is rising; the following is a reminder that will bring peace of mind.
"Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation." Psalm 146:3
"It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man." Psalm 118:8
"Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!" Psalm 34:8
This morning I woke up, crossed myself, and said a prayer as I do every morning. Christ is still Lord of lords and King of kings eventhough the US house and senate are now overrun by radical leftists. The next two years should be predictable and boring... Trump impeachment(s), and congress blocking everything they can so Trump can get nothing done. Of course, the Republicans did little while they had control.
So, back to praying. Pray for our elected officials. Petition God to give us good government, not the government we deserve because the government we deserve is worse than what was elected yesterday.
There's no such human as a "transgender girl." There is only male and female. A boy suffering from gender dysphoria because he believes a satanic lie.

As if the Roman Catholic church is the epitome of unity. 🙄
Reformation pride is disgusting. Even if you agree with the Reformers, it should, at the very least, grieve your soul that you continue to splinter and separate.
Why should it grieve your soul? Because it grieves His.
“That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.”

They condemn us both for denying that people obtain forgiveness of sins because of their own merits and for affirming that — through faith — people obtain forgiveness of sins and are justified through faith in Christ.

He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God."

#OTD October 21, 1532:
German reformer Martin Luther said, “For some years now I have read through the Bible twice every year. If you picture the Bible to be a mighty tree and every word a little branch, I have shaken every one of these branches because I wanted to know what it was and what it meant.”

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the more traditional your congregation, the more likely these discontented evangelicals will one day show up in your church’s narthex. I know, because many of them have lately been showing up in my church’s narthex.
