if Democrats want this moment to translate into long-term power the first thing they need to do is get rid of Schumer and Jeffries

The idea that Talarico is a moderate and Abdul is a radical is so unserious, and rooted mostly in Abdul's identity.
CNN asks James Talarico if he will stand up to Abdul El-Sayed

This is my heartbreak. Thank you @Justinjpearson for everything.
Thank you @Justinjpearson for running a historic race in #TN09 on the frontlines of our civil rights movement against the billionaires & white supremacists. They rigged the maps for him to lose by 21 points. He came within 1%. A 20-pt swing means the South has something to say.

NEWS: Gov. Gavin Newsom has commuted the death sentences of all 548 people on California’s death row to life without parole. It is the largest mass commutation in modern U.S. history, about a quarter of the nation’s death row.

Abdul El-Sayed hasn't even been sworn into office yet and he's already providing a more comprehensive plan than most sitting Senators. He'll be extremely popular, and many in the establishment will take credit for his accomplishments, like they do with Zohran Mamdani.
El-Sayed: "The first 3 things we have to do is end this war -- we need a war powers resolution that brings war-making capacity back to Congress -- number 2, ending this tariff regime & war against Canada, but number 3, stopping the nuclear bomb that's about to go off in our healthcare system with Medicaid cuts"

Your average Blue Dog in 2008 wanted to bomb Iran, make gay marriage illegal, and thought Obamacare was one step towards Communism. Your average Blue Dog now is an union guy endorsed by Bernie Sanders who wants tough borders, ban data centers, and stop offensive aid to Israel.
Replying to @AnonymousLeftie
compare some of these “Blue Dogs” to the ones in 2008 cause good god lol

Elite pundits literally cannot grasp that anti-oligarch populism is now considered "moderate" and "centrist" by voters. This concept is melting their brains. They cannot cognitively process it. It's hilarious.

He may not be able to run for president himself as a progressive but @ZohranKMamdani is going to be a formidable outrider and surrogate for whoever the progressive challenger ends up being.

Letting Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Nancy Pelosi back in charge is like signing up for Trump 3.0. These three are famous for being Israel first, corporate bought, and insider trading. Which is why we got what we got in 2024.

He’s gonna lose the primary. He wins. He’s gonna lose the general. He wins. He’s gonna win only narrowly. He wins by 7. All the while, record levels of money spent against him; the president and media target him daily with racist abuse; and his former Dem rival endorses his GOP opponent. But apparently, he is an ‘under performer.’ 🤷🏽‍♂️

MSNOW: What is your message now to Jewish voters nationally and what you will do to protect them? Abdul El-Sayed: I’m committed to Jewish safety, and we are united against discrimination. The U.S. spends billions to carry out genocide and apartheid against Palestinians. The genocide in Gaza with our complicity is continuing right now. Nobody wants to talk about that.
