.@ucdavis researchers have developed a rapid, noninvasive tool to track the neurons and biomolecules activated in the brain by psychedelic drugs. Learn more @naturemethods @UCDavisIPN @DEOlsonLab

Here we present the very first paper of our lab for a calcium-dependent version of split-TurboID (CaST). It allows rapid and non-invasive labeling of active neurons for both in vitro and in vivo applications simply by exogenous biotin administration.
And it’s out! Our lab’s very first paper is published today @naturemethods!
Our calcium-activated split-TurboID (CaST) can biochemically tag activated neurons within 10 minutes, enabling a molecular handle on functionally relevant cell ensembles: tinyurl.com/ddyecxze
Thanks to my mentor @tinakim_neuro for the guidance and support, Kim lab members @LatinaNeuroNerd, Sophia Lin, Joshua Chandra, and Sruti Vadde for all the hard work to push this project forward, and our great collaborators @DEOlsonLab and Isak Aarrestad to make it a robust story.

Excited to share the first paper from our lab! tinyurl.com/5n7fvwvh We engineered a new kind of time-gated calcium integrator, CaST, that can rapidly and non-invasively tag activated neurons in vivo with a small, biochemical handle. What makes this tool special and unique? 1/6
