So here's the thing.
I don't give a flying fuck about "woke" or not woke. That's just an easy target. Woke isn't the issue here. Baldur's Gate 3 was "woke" and made all the money and sales.
The issue is that, regardless of whatever sort of bullshit grandstanding you want to make about it, gave development is a luxury industry that exists at the pleasure of the audience willing to pay for it. If you are going to work for a big corporation making games, the sole expectation of those games is that they make money.
If you want to be an artiste, or a propagandist, or whatever, that happens on your own dime in your own time, and that's fine. Great things have come from small developers who just wanted to make the game they wanted to play. But if you want to work it like it's a job, you make the product the customer wants to buy.
And there was no confusion in what the customer wanted. We told you, repeatedly, loudly and clearly. We told you with words. We told you with actions. We told you by not buying the products we told you we didn't want. Some go so far to say is that Trump was elected the first time around to prove the fucking point about what gamers wanted. But no one listened.
Baldur's Gate 3 was full of woke, but it sold like bread before a hurricane. Why? Because they gave gamers what they wanted. They delivered a top notch experience that didn't throw any shit in your face you didn't want to see. There was plenty there for the woke to enjoy, but more importantly, it was completely ignorable. The game stood on it's own merits, and didn't turn into a lecture, which is what everyone had been asking for the entire time, and so it sold all the copies, and apparently no one learned a goddamn thing from it.
I see loads of morons on here today, talking about how XYZ Bioware game was woke and if we had cared then we would have called it wo.... shut the fuck up, please. We didn't complain then because it wasn't the same thing then. You know it. I know it, and you're making yourself look like a retard by saying it.
Neither Jade Empire, Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, BG 1&2, DA:O nor Mass Effect contained a scene suggesting you do pushups for misgendering someone or had a mandatory "coming out to their parents scene" where the party must support the most retarded member of what was previously portrayed as a proud warrior race telling their parents they are "non binary". Nothing like that happened before, that's the shit people are talking about. And for the record, it would be just as fucking retarded if a conservative company made a Qunari character come out to their family as Christian.
The gaming audience learns very far into the "chud" spectrum, learn to make what they want or keep going broke. What these studios once made will be mourned and cherished, you wont.

"Slop" is work that is low effort and low intent. I'm pro-AI, and anti-slop.
By low intent I mean the ratio of creative decisions being made by you vs by the AI. If the scale tips too far towards the AI, it's not your vision anymore.
But there is so much nuance to using these tools in 2026. You can get very involved, give detailed notes and feedback, make minor changes, and iterate just like you would giving feedback to a human collaborator.
This makes you a director, and an artist.

Imagine being so annoying and retarded that you manage to unite the Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese.
Yes, the "French" Muslims and Africans just did that.
He rapes.
He sexually harasses women from other communities
He riots and burns properties and loots goods
He explodes
He drives lorry into people
He lives on welfare.
The most dangerous man in the world is a Muslim.
He doesn't drink.
He Doesn't smoke.
He doesn't eat pork.
He doesn't take Credit cards.
He Doesn't take bank loans.
He doesn't spend all nights in the clubs.
He's not an individualist.
He's a family man.
So the government can't isolate him and the banks can't make any money off of them.
Yep, we have arrived at the time on infinite slop, but also infinite creativity.
Just like how youtube democratized video creation for anyone with a phone.
We did fine with that, and we will do fine with games too by the tens of thousands. Will just require new ways of doing things and getting the attention.

Imagine if this game had an optional quest where a character accepted Jesus as their personal lord and savior, and every other character praised them for it.
Do you understand why many gamers would avoid a game with such content? Even knowing it's optional?
Taash and ALL of her dialogue (beyond the recruitment quest) is optional as well. Which you knew because you played the game, right? RIGHT!? Not a single part of her trans storyline shows up in the recruitment quest; that's all optional if you CHOOSE to take her as a companion and pursue her favor and OPTIONAL storylines. Zero pronouns. Zero "bharv". Zero lecturing. Zero ANYTHING unless you CHOOSE to have her as a main companion.
Freaking LARPers and tourists, claiming they've played @bioware games when it's clear they've NEVER logged a single hour in any of them.

Dragon Age Veilguard was so bad even Reddit would welcome the toning down of its wokeness.
That's how far gone BioWare was.
Thread was locked by the mods unsurprisingly.

Remember when everyone thought Autism rates were skyrocketing in Minnesota because the autism program jumped from $600k to over $400 million in claims in just over 7 years, but it was just Somalis scamming the government.
How tf did that story disappear so quickly..!? Lmao

Anti-AI people are not Anti "AI".
They are Anti "anyone better than me".
They want to level you down to their stardards.
To my friend Firebelley, just ignore these people. And keep your EXCELLENT work

Gamers bidding farewell to the once great studios that died seeking the "modern audience."
Don’t Nod, the studio behind the original Life is Strange, is collapsing.
The French developer is facing a near-total layoff, up to 85 jobs, which would leave its French teams with only a small number of employees.
The studio has struggled with a string of underperforming releases, the most recently the sci-fi adventure Aphelion.
Don’t Nod has warned that it may not have enough funding to continue operating beyond January 31, 2027, and has entered a French “safeguard” procedure to restructure its finances.

The phrase “generative AI” is literally a thought-terminating cliche to give anti-AI freaks cover. These people are genuinely saying Claude isn’t Gen AI now because it did something they like lmfao.
Replying to @JangyJimmy
imo it's GENERATIVE AI we should all point the hate towards, not other forms of ai that can genuinely be helpful as a tool

There is something seriously wrong at the BBC.
This is the headline they used for a Muslim peace activist who was murdered by an Islamist group for preaching against radicalism.

Getting real frustrated with people saying "generative AI" to me, that's the biggest red flag of anti-AI psychosis and a lack of education.
I understand they mean 2022 stable diffusion, but the world has moved on from that and I'm tired of people living under rocks who think they're authorative on the matter. It's getting tiring.
particularly because most of these people seem to be kids. like actual kids.

There's an entire Immigration Canada webpage full of graphs that look like this. They ALL start in 2024, when every immigration stream was blown out to record highs. This is then used to misrepresent our current levels (which are still crazy high, but not 2024 high).
The layoffs will continue until video games improve
