God, this is awful. Why do the courts do this?
“If I go missing or disappear, it was not of my own free will. If I turn up dead, it was not by my own hand.” A Canadian woman has posted a terrifying public warning about a man she identifies as James Scott Stewart. She alleges that in January 2026, while she was 40 weeks pregnant, Stewart brutally beat her, strangled her nearly to death, and forced castor oil down her throat. She says she survived because the RCMP intervened. Now, according to her account, a judge has decided Stewart will be safer on probation than behind bars. She says he will be free again in six weeks. She also claims this is the eighth time the justice system has failed to protect her and her children. And perhaps the most disturbing part of her message is that she is publicly identifying the person she fears will kill her. This woman is telling the world she is afraid she won’t be alive in six weeks. Her allegations and the court’s decision deserve immediate scrutiny. I share about missing women all of the time. When do we start preventing this before it actually happens? This woman is begging for help. She knows he is coming for her.

Boo hoo. Stop them on the ice if you don't like it. Don't go crying in the media.

it's wild to hear the same people say: - sports aren't important - there aren't that many trans girls so the impact is small - but trans girls will kill themselves if they can't play on the girls team like, it just isn't a coherent set of beliefs

We need a complete review of the police budget. It strikes me we are funding too many niche policing initiatives rather than forcissing on basics. Eg — If @edmontonpolice have people who can police tweets, they should get them off X and onto the streets.
News: Edmonton police are presenting their 2027-30 budget. Big ask is for an extra $61.66m to replace aging IT and other infrastructure. Most of the overall budget is funded by the city through a funding formula.

More importantly, why is there a pen named after the entire NDP Party?
When did a 5 pack of pretty normal pens start costing $15?? I used to get 12 of these in a box for something by like $7

Hey @Steve_Dangle , as an expert in devastating and humiliating losses, how do we Habs fans cope with the most humiliating loss since the David Ayres game?

Perhaps the business groups can find a way to hire the 100,000+ Canadians who have lost their jobs in the past few months before advocating to bring more people into the country. Or perhaps they can be honest and just say that they are looking for cheap labour that they can more easily control.

.@TimHortons: “No one in Podunk Saskatchewan will work the night shift for $15 an hour with no benefits. We could raise the wage rate to attract local workers or we could go look for some poor person in Pakistan, recruit them, and get them to work the shitty shift for poor pay …. How do I get to Pakistan?”

I’m a Canadian conservative. I’ve never aligned with the MAGA movement. I remember an exercise in Grade 12 (many many years ago) where we mapped out Canada USA political spectrum. We learned then how close Canadian progressive conservatives were to USA democrats. It’s slightly different today. But not different enough that Canadian conservatives suddenly fully align with American republicans. It’s much more nuanced and broad than that. The majority of Canadian, fit in the 4-8 range (based on % of vote). Nothing about this should surprise anyone who understands the Canadian political landscape.

Just as true up here
Great to see that even after gerrymandering much of Florida, many Democrats are still getting elected to the House. Gerrymandering should never be allowed and election maps should only be approved by an independent commission versus having parties in power draw their own maps.
