Love @BarstoolBigCat: "I don't get the hype about mouth tape." As well as the skepticism from @Philly_Mays on whether it actually helps with snoring. The evidence isn't there to support mouth taping, generally, and it can certainly can have serious consequences.

If it’s clear to us that what we resist persists (and what we don’t resist doesn’t), then maybe instead of stress management courses and relaxation techniques we ought to develop: - stress acceptance courses - anxiety welcoming techniques Just saying…

With an inner struggle like insomnia, with no actual threat but only a perceived threat (wakefulness) - trying to escape reinforces the idea that we are in danger. In other words: Pursuing safety is the greatest risk. One of many, many paradoxes in our space.

Grateful to @Freed2Write for her article on obstructive sleep apnea in midlife women-as I said to Stacey, missing sleep-disordered breathing as a potential cause of insomnia in perimenopausal women is "suboptimal" #YouCanQuoteMeOnThat nextavenue.org/post-menopaus…

Making insurers pay for prior auth time is the only #PriorAuthReform that will make a real difference. Stop the cost/time shifting to the practice and return resources to actual patient care. This is a major #AccessToCare issue. @AASMorg @AANmember @RepRichardNeal @SenWarren – at Vermont, USA
Replying to @drchriswinter
We should really be reimbursed by the insurance company for ALL time spend by staff for this prior auth nonsense!!! Probably the number 1 reason we have a decreasing number of physicians who practice on their own.

I don’t buy it, Caribou Coffee. How about “Life is short. Sleep well so you can enjoy it.” Coffee shouldn’t be the antithesis to sleep. It should be part of the life we get to savor when we’re healthy and well 😊

Concerning, but not unexpected for unregulated U.S. #supplement: ⦿ #Melatonin products contained 74-347% of the labeled quantity ⦿ ~90% were inaccurately labeled, ⦿ Only 3 products (12%) had melatonin quantity within ±10% of the declared quantity @JAMA_current

Learning Point: 30% of patients being assessed for hypersomnia cannot come off medication (antidepressants, etc.) for 2 weeks (or >5 half-lives) prior to MSLT and this leads to a 12-fold decline in diagnostic accuracy. w/ Dr. Foldvary-Schaefer @ClevelandClinic #aanam #narcolepsy

It’s sad that between @CNN, @nytimes, and @washingtonpost, there is an article about sleep nearly every day, yet the vast majority…when distilled…are just perpetuating the notion that ‘speed to unconscious’ is the only metric for good sleep. #SleepUnplugged
