Before the world had a word for it, Juan was already building it. From Cybotron’s “Clear” to “No UFO’s” to Metroplex, he gave the future a sound. Then he gave it a name: techno.
Knowing our instruments were in his hands at the very beginning means more to us than we can put into words. Everyone here is hurting this week, from our engineers in Tokyo to our teams around the world.
Our deepest condolences to his family, his friends and the Detroit community that carried his vision to every corner of the planet.

When researchers analyzed how Pegasus spyware infected iPhones without the user tapping anything, they found something wild. The attackers sent an iMessage with a fake GIF that targeted Apple's image decompression engine. The decompression math was so flexible that the exploit chained arithmetic operations together to construct a literal, functioning software CPU using over 70,000 segment commands that defined logical bit operations (AND, OR, XOR, XNOR, etc.) entirely inside the image parser. This created a small computer architecture with registers, a full 64-bit adder, and a comparator, running raw code before the phone even buzzed with a notification

Juan Atkins, a founding force of techno music, has died. He was 64.
His 1985 single "No UFO's" made Rolling Stone's list of the 200 greatest dance songs of all time.
The Detroit native broke out in the early 1980s, inspired by the German band Kraftwerk and George Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic.
Over the years, his work as a DJ and producer helped bring techno to a global audience. Atkins is even credited with originating the name "techno."
His talent agents confirmed his death in Mexico City this past weekend, but did not provide a cause of death.
