“We’re gonna get you the help you need.” —Ft Walton Detective de-escalates an armed veteran in crisis.
Reports of a man in tactical gear, armed, and sitting in his car, were coming in from a Ft Walton Beach shopping center.
Retired Army veteran, Detective Collin Savoie responded, and took command of the situation.
He was calm. He never raised his voice, and talked to the man like a human, and was able to relate to the man, another army veteran, in crisis.
October 14th, 2026 could have ended much, much differently, but it didn’t.
Detective Savoie will receive the Medal of Valor, and Life Saving Award of the year on Nov 17th, 2026.
Bikers are mostly also aviation nerds ! :)

457 is more than a number in a history book and indeed more than a number to me. It represents a person, a family and a story that deserves to be remembered. A soldier I, or my colleagues, carried home on MERT. 🫡
Marking the 25th anniversary of Operation HERRICK in 2027, The 457 will honour all 457 UK service personnel lost during the conflict in Afghanistan.
Handcrafted in Belfast by @nomadic.watches Watches, each of the 457 dedicated timepieces will honour one of the fallen, accompanied by artwork by @wills_art_world_ Wills MBE and a certificate sharing their story.
Taking custody of a timepiece means taking personal guardianship of a story. A quiet, daily mark of remembrance.
£457 from every timepiece will go directly to support @scottyscharity The Military Bereavement Charity, and @walkingwiththewounded. Connect Through Service receives no profit from this project.

In one of the bizarre deals of the century the RSAF - Saudi air force handed back 22 lightnings to British Aerospace as part of the Tornado ADV purchase - the aircraft were immaculate ( I've owned 2 🤭) but sadly no buyers were found. -only 1 has survived in what I call airworthy

Another Star Trek legend lost. Chekov was a true icon of scifi, and one of my fondest memories of any comic con was getting to shake Walter Koenig's hand and tell him how much I appreciated his work. RIP, sir.
Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in the original “Star Trek” series and seven “Star Trek” feature films, has died at 90.
