Gobsmacking statement by @SurreyCouncil Tory lead member for the fire service:
"Whether we have more or fewer firefighters is irrelevant"

On behalf of @SurreyFBU we would like to thank @EmmaKennedy for her support over the last few months and moving forward. The making Surrey safer plan is not working in its current format and needs to be reviewed. @SurreyFireSOS @southeastFBU @SOS_Surrey @fbunational

As Painshill is my local station, and as an Elmbridge resident pay extortionate council tax this isn’t good enough @SurreyCouncil why should I pay such an enormous amount of council tax for part time fire cover 🤷♂️

The fire on Chobham Common shows that @SurreyCouncil needs to adequately fund and staff @SurreyFRS to respond to incidents safely and effectively. Can my Surrey friends and followers please sign the petition?

So the cuts are to continue in Surrey regardless and today there are 6 whole-time appliances off the run and only 1 on-call appliance available. #SaveSurreySeven #Cutscostlives @SurreyFireSOS @SOS_Surrey @southeastFBU @BBCSurrey @AlPinkerton @SurreyLabour

It's now quite apparent that this is the new norm!
The whole service is in a mess.
Control staff have severe crewing shortfalls, as well as the 10 on call units who can hardly crew 2-3 pumps consistently.
30+ fire engines used to be the norm. Be lucky to get 15 across Surrey 😢😢

Surrey have 6 whole time fire engines off the run today. On call fire stations should all be available over the weekend but unfortunately this is not the case. Chobham fire station and 5 other are also not available due to lack of firefighters. @SurreyFireSOS
