no surprise, every crypto vc firm has done this privately if not publicly yet "crypto" so intertwined with every other frontier technology area now and the word so associated with historically unserious people that it no longer makes sense for any vc to define as such it's a limiting and inaccurate moniker just as many great vc firms outgrew "web" and "mobile" and "saas" and "fintech" brands / origins. the best investment firms are often born from emergent trends and expand from that wedge in practice, not much changes in terms of how anyone invests, if you were actually pivoting at this moment, you would have missed at least 18 months of the most investable opportunities at the intersection of blockchain, ai and markets

Take this as an IQ test for those on the TL who think this is bullish BTC lol
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10. Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years. Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.

OpenAI models helped researchers—operating as part of our Patch the Planet initiative—discover critical security flaws in PHP, an open-source programming language used to run an estimated 70% of websites. Over the past two months, we led a coalition of maintainers, researchers, and security providers to prepare fixes and protections ahead of disclosure. This duration was necessary because the fix was quite intricate and required a major change to the PHP engine. Every site using PHP can now safely upgrade their version to stay secure, in addition to applying mitigations from various security vendors. Due to the severity of these flaws and PHP’s widespread use, we consider this bug to be one of the most impactful vulnerabilities in recent memory. It also marks a new phase, where AI can find security bugs with internet-scale impact. This is an example of the Defender’s Window in action: to our knowledge, frontier AI was able to find this vulnerability ahead of attackers, giving defenders time to prepare. openai.com/index/coordinated…

‪OpenAI may claim a role in the coordinated response and patching process. But the initial discovery and exploit development, however, occurred several months earlier by an independent researcher.‬ ‪x.com/lcfr_hax/statu…‬

GPT-Rosalind surfaced a new lead for drug discovery: could restoring cholesterol transport protect neurons from degeneration? DCTN1 is a gene linked to Perry syndrome, a rare neurodegenerative disorder. In mouse-brain data, disrupting it increased expression of genes involved in making cholesterol. GPT-Rosalind suggested a possible explanation: cholesterol may not be reaching where neurons need it. That gives scientists a specific mechanism to test and, if confirmed, a direction for developing new treatments for neurodegenerative disorders. With @perturbai_tx and @scrippsresearch, a team of thousands of GPT-Rosalind agents worked in parallel, connecting gene-expression results from millions of mouse brain cells with scientific literature in just 32 minutes. We’re now expanding this collaboration to identify new drug targets. openai.com/index/scaling-ai-…

Q-Day is the moment quantum computers become powerful enough to break the encryption protecting most of the world's data. Rick Muller thinks that moment is closer than most people assume. Watch Muller, SVP and Chief Scientist at IonQ Federal, explain why Q-Day is now an urgent security concern, and how IonQ is building systems to stay ahead of it. #IonQ #QuantumIsNow #FutureOfQuantum #QuantumSecurity

.@jayleno says the middle of the consumer market is disappearing, from cars to hotels to restaurants. "The middle is dead." "I see Porsche moving upscale and they want to be like Ferrari." "Everything is that way now. With hotels, you're either at the Motel 6 or the Four Seasons." "Restaurants are either fast food or top end restaurant." "We have no middle class anymore."

We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit. It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion. In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding. In the post below, we share more details about our new fund. anthropic.com/news/public-be…

Germany has adopted the EU's 2030 and 2035 post-quantum dates in its new national guideline. The date that German boards should have in mind now is 31 December 2026. On 12 October, the interior and digital ministries and the federal cybersecurity agency BSI published the guideline for administrations at every level of government, companies and critical-infrastructure operators. By 31 December, each of them should have a named owner with staff and budget, binding implementation plans with deadlines, a first cryptographic inventory and first migration steps under way. In the EU roadmap, member states agreed to take first steps by then. Germany turned that into a list for every organization. The dates are recommendations, but their authors want them made as binding as possible by the end of the year. They asked the IT-Planungsrat, the federal-state IT council, and the critical-infrastructure partnership UP KRITIS to do that. Section 30 of the BSI Act already requires most NIS2-regulated entities to include cryptography in their risk management, with measures that should meet the state of the art. For that standard, the BSI cites its own TR-02102, post-quantum schemes included. My reading is that a supervisor can ask today whether quantum risk is in an entity's risk register, with mitigation dates. The Netherlands published its version a week earlier, for central government only, with a draft migration plan due by the end of 2027. Germany wants plans this year from companies and all three levels of government. New from our STEM Fellows Program: Designing more efficient quantum circuits with Claude. Given plain-language instructions, Claude Mythos 5 designed quantum circuits that improve on the best published ones, sometimes by an order of magnitude or more. More efficient circuits reduce the resources needed by quantum algorithms, which could bring quantum computing applications in chemistry and materials science within reach sooner. Quantum is poised to become a multi-trillion dollar industry in the next few years. We think New Yorkers should share in that profit. That's why we negotiated that New Yorkers get board seats and a 15% stake of intellectual property that comes out of NYU's Quantum Fabrication facility. Because all New Yorkers should benefit from the economic success of this city.
Breaking News: Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration is making a $30 million investment to build a quantum research lab at New York University. In exchange, the city will receive 15% of any proceeds from intellectual property developed in that lab. nyti.ms/4jUe7GD
