Idea: Before writing an essay, have ChatGPT write one on the same topic to show you what would be the conventional thing to say, so you can avoid saying that.

Today, Steve Girvin taught the @ISSYale students how to securely send secret messages from YQI to @JacksonYale using the quantum key distribution scheme encryption BB84 (and figuring out if someone spied on them!). The class recording will be available on Youtube soon.

🧵 Former CIA officer here. If I took classified intelligence - let alone Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information about nuclear weapons - I would expect a visit from federal law enforcement. That’s the FBI’s job, to protect our national security. /1

Without concrete action, the cycle of mass carnage in this country will go unbroken. We need to move towards reinstating a ban on the manufacturing, sale, and transfer of military-style assault weapons currently on the market. Let me introduce you to H.R. 1808. (1/5)

Quick thread: I want you all to meet Vladimir Bondarenko. He’s a blogger from Kiev who really hates the Ukrainian government. He also doesn’t exist, according to Facebook. He’s an invention of a Russian troll farm targeting Ukraine. His face was made by AI.

Unsurprisingly, the Russian invasion of Ukraine seems to be a spectacular failure in so many ways: The idea of a Blitzkrieg failed. None of the planned tasks was accomplished as planned. Not one single key city has been taken and held. The Russian losses have been enormous.

For all the fears over the last nearly 10 years about the Russian hybrid/information warfare capabilities and troll armies, they have completely lost the information war over this invasion of Ukraine

Russian forces retain significant quantitative and qualitative superiority. UKR forces have demonstrated resolve & resilience. Russian conventional overmatch, such as it is, may not translate into attaining their maximalist political aims. This is just the opening of the war. End
