Serve your country. Make a difference. Come home. That's the vision of a citizen legislature worth fighting for. That is what term limits help restore. #citizenlegislature #termlimits #Congress

ALT A split image showing the U.S. Capitol building on the top half and a street with an American flag on the bottom half. Text reads: "Term limits ensure our lawmakers stay rooted in the reality of the citizens they represent. They serve their time, then return home to live under the laws they've passed." The U.S. Term Limits logo and website termlimits.com are at the bottom right.

Ok. So I only have 360-ish followers, but maybe that’ll change. Never asked for anything. But please go check out my band’s new album that dropped last Friday. It’s heavy and melodic. And on target for these strange days..

Changing Congress starts with changing the incentives in the system. Term limits can help put more emphasis on making a difference in the present, rather than campaigning for what comes next. Do you agree?

They do not work for you. They do not protect you.
They do not respect you. They do not care about you.
They don't even like you. You are controlled tax livestock. Stay in your pen. Pay the tax. Trust them until you die from it.

This take misses the entire axis of the conversation.
Libertarian arguments are not sermons about being nice.
They start with a simple inventory of reality: individuals act, time is scarce, preferences differ, trade beats force because it preserves both sides’ plans.
“Taxation is theft” reads as moralizing to people who prefer euphemism. It is a description of method. You can like the method or dislike it, but the transfer occurs under threat, this much is fact.
The non-aggression principle is a coordination norm that says peaceful people get to proceed without interruption. That norm gives you markets, contracts, reputation, insurance pools, arbitration, and federations you enter by consent. This is far from dogmatic.
The alternative is managerial faith that a monopoly on force will guess enough prices, pick enough winners, and punish enough heretics to keep the machine humming. History already scored that experiment and it lost. Miserably.
“None of this is practical.” Practical to whom? Practical for the office that prints the forms, or for the person whose plans keep getting resized by a committee?
Practicality in a free order looks like failing fast with your own capital, discovering information through prices, copying what works, and exiting what fails.
“Nothing they want would improve your life.” Speak for yourself. Lower time preference comes from owning the fruits of your work. Innovation arrives when people can capture upside without begging a regulator for permission. Social trust grows where promises are enforceable without groveling to a political patron.
These are mundane gains, but they compound. Civilization is compounding.
Communism and this tradition are identical only if you blur the difference between a person and a slogan. One treats the individual as raw material for the plan. The other treats the plan as an offer that must win consent. One centralizes error and then hides it. The other decentralizes error and forces it into the open. Which one actually improves lives is an empirical question.
Look at migration patterns, black market premiums, startup density, price discovery, and the speed of correction after failure. People vote with feet and capital long before they vote in a booth.
You can keep your managed garden if it pleases you. I prefer the open field where responsibility is real, exit is legal, and success does not require a liturgy.
Libertarianism is the only arrangement that treats adults like owners instead of inventory.
