Tina survives the novel. Most of the named characters do. Almost all of Carrie's casualities happen during the destruction of the town, not at prom.

Most of the people don't die at the prom in the source material, like 60% of the prom are critically injured and the rest are undetermined. However an absurd amount of people within the town die when she creates the sinkhole.
