India didn’t lose great cars. India rejected them.
The Polo, Punto, Fabia, Fiesta, Figo, Duster, EcoSport, Civic, Yeti, Octavia, Laura, Accord, Endeavour. The list is endless. We had genuinely brilliant products across segments, and look how many of them are gone.
We’ve become so obsessed with screens, sunroofs and feature lists that we’ve forgotten what makes a car genuinely good to drive. And when these cars don’t sell, manufacturers learn exactly what the Indian market is willing to settle for.
Then we wonder why global brands don’t take us seriously.
Maybe we got the cars we deserved.

UPI may still be free for users, but merchants are entering a new phase.
From 15 October 2026, a 0.4% MDR will apply to specified P2M UPI transactions above ₹2,000, capped at ₹300 per transaction. P2P payments will remain free.
