Planning to read all of these @WilliamShatner memoirs this year, cause why not? I’m gonna chart my progress here and hopefully make a video reviewing them all at the end. To boldly go, indeed… #startrek

What is your personal favorite Film ever? Not necessarily the best film ever but just your favorite.

Love Marsters and am sympathetic toward the point of this tweet, but the fact that BWW certainly wouldn’t shell out tons of money to put him in a commercial is the PROOF SMG is way more relevant.
thinking about when someone got in my replies saying james marsters doesn’t have an active enough career post buffy to warrant him presenting with smg and boreanaz at the emmys. sorry he isn’t doing *checks notes* buffalo wild wings commercials

Scientists doubt gods and ghosts exist, also. That hasn’t stopped Trek from using those.
With, “Tomorrow’s Enterprise,” SNW not only invokes the memory of one of TNG’s best episodes (once again displaying how offensively unoriginal this half-baked show has become), but it presents what these showrunners think of TOS. Also…a White Hole?!? Christ I hate this show.

Canon in my heart (Also, since it’s a multiverse, I’m pretty sure it IS canon?)
Chloe Bennet says she’s still “low-key angry” that ‘AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.’ is not considered canon to the MCU. “The real followers will understand that. We were the first MCU TV show, and we did 130-something hour-long episodes. We spent a lot of time in people’s homes, and I spent a lot of my life playing this character and this young woman growing into her power. There’s a lot of symbolism in that, especially looking back now.” (Via: elle.com/culture/movies-tv/a…)

It’s been a couple months. It’s absolutely impossible to tell what something’s long standing cultural impact is that soon. It’s sad that people are actually judging a movie’s staying power now on how many memes it has for a few months, I guess?
Christopher Nolan Odyssey had zero cultural impact, it was a strange hysteria for two or three weeks and then it was as if it never even existed.

Weird take, one that dismisses decades and decades of additive prequel and origin storytelling from thousands of creatives who weren’t the ORIGINAL creator. Think of every time DC has changed or retold Superman and Batman’s origin, as an example.
If you didn't create an I.P.'s characters, you shouldn't be the one to go back and define them. You're simply not qualified to do so. Tell more stories, sure. But do not go back and create a backstory for a character you had no hand in creating in the first place.

Well, when a momma lion loves a daddy lion….
BREAKING: Two lions are reportedly on the loose in Indiana, with authorities “unsure of where the lions even came from.”

I’m convinced the only reason these dudes are particularly annoyed by her is they find her cute/attractive and they feel ashamed/embarrassed (even though they shouldn’t). I’m not even a face dancing fan, but is this different than what physical comedians have been doing forever?
These people need to be sterilized. They shouldn’t be allowed to breed.

One of Green Lantern’s most iconic, beloved stories concerned him and Green Arrow traveling the country, confronting various social ills. And John Stewart was originally introduced as an anti-authority, Black Power figure.
I'm black, a grown ass man who works a regular 9/5 and have witnessed racism first hand, and I have to clean and take care of myself.... and I hate EVERYTHING in this scene. People are attracted to fantastical characters like Green Lantern because we want to escape and have fun... why ruin that!?

This response, while more reasonable and well-mannered than many who have complained about the ep, still points to how many of my-trek’s critics want the franchise preserved in amber, just staying the same forever. BUT, here’s where I will KINDA agree with Bill…(cont.)
I'm glad some of you like current Star Trek, and I wish you all the joy of it. But I want something VERY DIFFERENT from my science fiction series and something VERY DIFFERENT from Star Trek than this. Farscape was great. I don't need Farcape in Star Trek. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was great. I don't need Buffy in Star Trek. Game of Thrones was great. I don't need it in Star Trek. Harry Potter was great, I don't need it in Star Trek. Rick and Morty is great, I don't need it in Trek. I get that we live in a world now where when you go to the bookstore, there's one shelf of science fiction that's mostly film and TV tie-ins, and then like ten shelves of fantasy romantasy superhero teen identity fiction. And yes, I UNDERSTAND what they're doing here—I've been watching films, TV series, and Star Trek for a very long time. But I'm a simple cave person in my tastes: I want actual SCIENCE FICTION in my science fiction, and I want STAR TREK in my Star Trek. That's all I ask. This blending of every genre into every other genre, and blending every franchise into every other franchise ain't for me. I'd like 80% more Gene Roddenberry in Star Trek, and 80% less Joss Whedon please. One of the reasons Classic Trek was so popular was they didn't try to do a version of it for every taste. They made it universal and they made sure there was a place for everyone in it without patting themselves on the back for it. And then they got about the business of telling great Star Trek stories, not doing endless gimmicks. Tell great Star Trek stories. Show us a world of the future that we'd all want to live in, where everyone works hard to grow and learn, to explore, and to build a better society for all. Start there.🖖

I’m one of those old school Trek fans who ALSO likes SNW and Lower Decks (yes, we exist), but I’ll acknowledge that at least one good old fashioned classic Trek show during this era would have done wonders for redeeming it in the eyes of many
9
They saw positive response to the early genre exploration eps and decided THAT should be the show’s focus, instead of continuing to try to just be a slightly more modern TOS
6
Ironically, it WAS the early seasons of SNW that were initially sold as something of a return to form for Trek, and it’s telling that you DID see a bunch of classic fans praise it a bit more. But the show changed its identity after the first two seasons
7
Nu-Trek kicked off with Discovery, which was immediately a stylistic and narrative departure for the franchise. Almost ALL of this era has been trying to do different stuff.
6
That’s why DS9 was accepted back in the day. People WERE initially put off by how it felt different than what we’d seen before, but hey, we still had TNG, so that’s okay.
10
I think a mistake Kurtzman made was not always having at least one anchor show that was in the old Trek mode and therefore appealed to the classic fans. I think people would be more open to the variety and wild swings if it didn’t feel like it was ALL that was being offered

It’s so funny seeing the Russo’s say this; and hearing the SDCC crowd oohh and ahhh when they hear it, but then you listen to the voice and he’s just doing the same Bela Lugosi impression all of us have done since we were kids.
The Russo Brothers say they got chills when they heard RDJ's voice for Doctor Doom for the first time. “One day I think it was in the trailer, we were just sort of talking about some ideas and he broke out into the voice.” (Source: people.com/robert-downey-jr-…)
