This is climate change & we are only just approaching warming levels where it starts to bite. That’s why sensible people want to restrict warming as much as possible.
5-7 days of 40C + in France kills vulnerable people, farm animals, wildlife, crops and raises wildfire risk.
Oil prices surging again today.
Record profits for fossil fuel companies.
Shills happy.
The usual stupid people on X cheering them on as they empty their pockets 🤦🏻♂️

Global warming will overshoot 1.5°C in the coming years.
There’s still a chance to bring temperatures back down, but the window is closing fast.
This is the point of return.

⚡️🔌 From today, 21 October, drivers in England (not whole of the UK) no longer need planning permission to install a qualifying cross-pavement EV charging gully.
🚙 However, the rules have changed, but you can’t just get an angle grinder out! 🔌⚡️
Good news for people without a driveway, potentially making it easier and cheaper to charge at home rather than relying on public chargers.
But let’s be clear: this is not a free-for-all.
You cannot simply cut a channel into the pavement outside your house and run a charging cable through it.
There are still important requirements:
✅ Highway authority authorisation: The new permitted development right only applies to a channel installed by, on behalf of, or with the authorisation of the relevant highway authority. The council can refuse an application.
✅ Street works and Highways Act requirements: Separate street-works permissions or licences (and any section 178 consent) must still be dealt with. These control what goes into the public footway.
✅ Approved installation and safety standards: The gully must meet the applicable standards so pavements stay safe and accessible for pedestrians, wheelchair users and people with visual impairments.
✅ Location restrictions: The new right does not apply in conservation areas, within the curtilage of a listed building, or on scheduled monuments. Check before proceeding.
✅ Your council’s policy: Not every council currently allows or facilitates these installations. Removing the planning-permission requirement does not force every authority to approve a gully.
✅ Reinstatement: When the channel is no longer needed, it must be removed and the pavement restored.
The change removes one layer of red tape (the planning application), not the need for proper highway approval and professional installation.
Done properly, pavement gullies could give many more people access to cheaper home charging without leaving cables trailing across the footway.
A welcome step forward for EV charging — but check with your local highway authority before doing anything to the pavement. ⚡

A reminder we must continue the fight against fossil shills and cranks.
They may scoff at this but it’s only because they refuse to accept or don’t have the ability to comprehend the harms that significant global temperature rises will bring. We are already seeing it.
The chance to keep global warming below 1.5°C with no overshoot is gone.
But urgent action can still limit the overshoot and bring warming back to 1.5°C by 2100.
Current policies, however, put the 🌎 on course for up to 2.8°C this century.
New #EmissionsGap Report: unep.org/en/news-and-stories…
Not great news on the temperature rise that’s already baked in but a good chance human emissions are showing signs of falling with more sustained reductions by 2030.
Despite a possible plateau in global greenhouse-gas emissions last year, average temperatures are set to hurtle past 2 °C

A reminder not to trust a lot that comes from Kathryn Porter.
Very strong vested interests.
No way she is independent.

So brainwashed @latimeralder can’t see this.
The crank is a lost cause. In his own little bubble of denial, conspiracy and delusion.
Poor old soul. He must be totally insufferable in real life and seen as the village idiot.
Clean tech is booming!
One example of this is China's clean tech exports... reaching $32 billion in September 2026...
This is the problem when you are not just a crank but a totally brainwashed crank @latimeralder
So much is now going on around the world to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, from renewables, EVs, heat pumps etc.
Yet when you are this brainwashed you just don’t see it. 🤪
Look what we could have had.
Instead frittered away on tax cuts for the wealthy & huge profits for private oil & gas companies not British taxpayers.
Shame. That would have helped us make a faster & more just energy transition.

Britain’s missing sovereign wealth fund… Treasury officials have modelled that had the UK done what Norway did with North Sea revenues, there would be a £1 trillion fund…
As Chancellor sets up Energy Wealth Fund, a look at the long historical argument about where the oil windfall went, including from interviews with those who have run Norways $2.4 trillion fund, now the biggest in the world, filled from the proceeds of the same North Sea.

Wholesale costs driven by gas account for almost 90% of the rise in UK household electricity bills since 2020.
Don’t let people tell you gas isn’t the main culprit.
This would be much much worse if we had more gas generation.
Expensive gas – not net-zero – is driving up bills
Net-zero is, in fact, "helping to shelter Britain from the impact of expensive gas", says @ACJSissons
Two more battery energy storage projects close to coming online.
300MW/600MWh connected to Hornsea 3 wind farm and 40MW/120MWh in Dalmarnock in Scotland.
Both will reduce curtailment & make better use of clean renewable electricity 👍🏻

Removing the standing charge from gas & putting it on the unit cost of gas instead may be a good move that reduces the price ratio of gas to electricity.
We need that to encourage electrification.
Lower income households also benefit more than wealthy.

People now no longer need planning permission to install cross-pavement EV chargers.
This saves around £300 on installing a home EV charger if you don’t have a drive & makes it quicker & easier to install.
Another barrier down for those without a drive.

Simulate the experience of an ICE car driver by charging at home for £5 then driving to the local petrol station, stand in the cold for 5 mins then hand over £80 to the cashier.
Then book your car in for a brake and oil service for £££.
Batteries are now growing faster than the historical growth of solar.
Gas has a cleaner & cheaper competitor.
Only one winner here.
In just four years, annual battery storage additions grew tenfold as costs declined, driving rapid deployment.
The same increase in solar capacity took nine years, and wind 15 years.

A reminder most of Europe’s electricity isn’t priced on gas which is one of the main reasons (but not only reason) it’s generally cheaper than in GB.
Approving Jackdaw will make no difference at all.
The only thing that will is either market reform or reducing gas demand.
Jackdaw gas field has been approved.
More UK gas on its way by the end of the month.
Is UK gas cheap yet? No!!!
Is UK more energy secure? No!!!
Will Shell & Equinor profits be up? Yes!!!
Will UK consumers be better off? No!!!
See how this works yet?
Europe & UK have been reducing gas demand for years. That will continue.
As time goes on we will all use less gas.
The fight for that goes on against those who want to keep demand up by pushing for gas ⚡️generation and spreading lies about HPs so they can demand more drilling.
