My manager told me on my first day, “Reply to every email within one hour. No exceptions.”
I said, “Understood.”
That night, at 9:14 p.m., an email came in from her. Subject: “Q3 numbers.”
I replied at 9:31 p.m.
At 10:05 p.m., another one. I replied at 10:20 p.m.
This went on for two weeks. Emails at 8 p.m., 11 p.m., and once at 5:12 a.m.
I replied to every single one within the hour.
On Monday, she called me into her office.
