I think the real question isn't even "is it conscious" anyways; its "what is the spirit of this thing and thus the skillful way to interact with it"? It's still skillful to be kind to all phenomena- like socks or mountains- whether we regard them as conscious or not. As they say the middle grade bodhisattva radiates love to all sentient beings, but the highest grade radiates love to all phenomena

This psychoanalytic idea that men are compensating for their lack of a womb is bs. Historically, men create the OUTER womb – the environment (shelter, protection, food, reliability, etc) that will form the child.
The woman says: "I will undertake an enormous, irreversible biological investment."
Meanwhile, the man says: "I will alter the external world for our child to thrive." The outer womb.
Men will start a renaissance, invent new technology, build an entire civilization, for the child to thrive.
(This is no longer about sex at birth. These days, a female-bodied person can adopt the masculine role just fine.)
If you're a man and you're messed up inside, it may be that you're not playing your role. Maybe you're not working on any projects that are contributing to an outer womb. Or maybe you're working on such projects, but they're shrines to your own glory rather than offerings to the children of the future.
