The sponsor of the assisted suicide Bill, when confronted with polling showing opposition to the Bill just now in the House of Commons, criticised this polling company and misled the House.
She should made to retract this statement and admit the public does not support the Bill.
Lauren Edwards MP has just made a serious and false allegation about Whitestone Insight on the floor of the House of Commons.
She appears to have conflated us with an entirely different polling company. Whitestone Insight has NOT been criticised by the British Polling Council for failing to disclose who funded our research.
Ms Edwards should retract her statement and apologise.
If an MP has such a tenuous grasp of truth and accuracy when making allegations in Parliament, why should anyone have confidence in her judgement on a matter as momentous — and irreversible — as assisted suicide?

Lauren Edwards doubles down in interviews and Guardian today: she is not in the market to amend the Bill it's just about sending it back to the Lords.
All evidence, including from the Royal Colleges, completely ignored.

I still can’t believe Parliament has legalised abortion up to the moment of birth. We live in a country where it is illegal to hunt a fox - or indeed to sell a drinking straw made of plastic - but lawful to kill a human baby. We have lost our way.

NEW polling: today we find that nearly 7 in 10 Scots fear that domestic abuse victims will be pressured into ending their own lives if assisted dying is made law.
Exclusively @heraldscotland as MSPs vote on Liam McArthur MSPs Assisted Death Bill:
- TWICE as many Scots agreed (vs disagreed) MSPs should REJECT a law that would bring more risk to domestic abuse victims.
- THREE times as many agreed that safeguarding would not be able to detect domestic abuse in assisted dying.
- 68% said they feared that victims of DA will be pressured into ending their own lives.
Concern was strongest among women.

This new polling for @OtherHalfOrg by @WStoneInsight has nearly 7 in 10 Scots fearing that domestic abuse victims will be pressured into 'choosing' to die.
The penalty for coercion into assisted dying will be MAXIMUM 12 months in prison:
nitter.gq/OtherHalfOrg/status/20…
We know that domestic abuse escalates after a terminal diagnosis, and some men already coerce their victims into certain cancer treatments. Death would now be a treatment option.
Get caught, somehow? (The main witness will have been silenced). A maximum sentence of 12 months.
Unbelievable risk to women - particularly older women of whom 1 in 6 are victims of 'elder' abuse. MSPs cannot be naive about the harm this law can bring.
