This is a timely podcast looking into the @metpoliceuk through my book #ClosingRanks. The title has relevance today as it did when I 1st saw it exhibited by the officers who beat up my father over a traffic matter 40yrs ago, captured in the Steve McQueen film still on @BBCiPlayer
🚨 In March… @jackaldane meets @LeroyLogan999, author of 📚Closing Ranks: My Life as a Cop📚 Discover the story of one man’s unwavering challenge to racism in his profession, his rise through the ranks, and his role in founding the Black Police Association. Coming soon ⏳

Some MPs are briefing newspapers that they'd stand down if they couldn't have second jobs as they couldn't possibly live on £82,000 per year. Good riddance I say. How out of touch are these people? MPs are in the top 5% of earners. That's plenty enough. Ban second jobs for MPs.

Todays 16 November 2021 Birmingham Mail Column There’s no such thing as banter it’s just blatant racism
The @ukhomeoffice & @pritipatel have consistently claimed that they have paid out 31 million in compensation to #Windrushvictims yet there has been no evidence to support their claims .Today we ask the @CommonsHomeAffs & @CommonsECC to request the breakdown of these figures.

Yes @WindrushPreston . Have a look at the breakdown below of the Black population in Edmonton Green. The struggle goes on until May 2022 at the local elections. @DefendWindrush @LaboursBlackPLP @EnfieldBlackLab @WindrushLives @
Did you know Altheia Jones-Lecointe was at the forefront of the black power movement in the UK? She was one of the Mangrove Nine who took on and defeated the police in a landmark trial. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistoryMonthUK

Victims of the #WindrushScandal pursue legal proceedings against @ukhomeoffice over delays in issuing compensation. We're pleased to be launching a new Windrush Justice Clinic this month, where we'll work on similar cases with victims. Watch this space. theguardian.com/uk-news/2021…

Just in complete shock regarding the death of Maxine.I have known her for over 20 yrs plus as a founder of her consultancy and dedicated activist of the Labour Party a keen champion of black representation at levels. We must leave a legacy to reflect our passions and commitment.

All our photos of @maxinejames show her displaying her trademark grin! :-). We look at them and smile, even in our grief....but that is @maxinejames. And that is why we celebrate & remember her today, and every day. @JennetteArnold @ppvernon @CeliaHibbert @ManleyNanda @dothodge
