Michigan’s Muslim population is 2-3 times larger than its Jewish population. The feelings of the latter get blanket attention, whereas I’ve seen no analysis or reporting on how Michigan Muslims feel about Rogers’ messaging and ads suggesting his Muslim opponent is a terrorist
If you're trying to understand why so many Michigan Jewish Democrats are defecting, I wrote in August about it. It's not, per se, about foreign policy. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…

"Each of us has a different story, but we're all test cases in this administration's attempt to see how far it can stretch immigration law – visa technicalities, foreign policy grounds and, in my case, the Immigration and Nationality Act’s terrorism provisions – to punish protected speech in defense of Palestinian life and critical of Israel."

There has been either an inadvertent or deliberate effort in Spain to focus attention on an individual rather than on management or ministerial failures (such as the failure to complete LZB replacement on this line).
Human error is always a symptom and never a cause.

New reported dispatch from Gioia Tauro:
Mimmo Macrì has decided what the port should be. "A dockworker wants to bring bread home and look his children in the face," he said, "thinking that on the other side of the world everyone else is doing the same. As long as the port is not an instrument of death."

Here is a quote about Indigenous children from Canada’s first Prime Minister. It was always about the land and the resources. Still is. Approximately half of all children in provincial care in the colonial project called Canada are Indigenous.

I wrote an article about Kroger's plans to use facial recognition in stores for @thenation and a corporate PR flack wrote to my editor to complain about the piece and to deny they were using the tech. Now they don't even bother to deny it. Thanks to AELP for this investigation.
Big Grocery is watching and it could get much worse.
As covered in @verge, a new report from the American Economic Liberties Project's @mh4oh and @victoriafreire0 lays out how Kroger's plans to absorb Giant Eagle expands the grocery giant's market power and surveillance🧵

The word “peace” has no coherent meaning in the context of an ethnosupremacist state premised on displacement and maintaining permanent refugees. Ask any of the most liberal liberal zionists to define a “Palestinian state” and their answer will make Stephen Miller blush

SCOOP: Nadia Beller, the Bolivian whistleblower who survived an assassination attempt ordered by Trump associate and political operative Fernando Cerimedo, tells me authorities are seeking to arrest her as soon as Friday. According to sources within the Bolivian government and police, the case will argue that her (brave) testimony against Cerimedo’s crimes—which range from U.S. backed election interference to drug trafficking—is evidence she had prior knowledge and failed to report.
Beller, a lawyer herself, cites multiple legal grounds for immunity and says this is an obvious attempt to silence her for exposing a corruption network spanning from Washington DC to Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, and beyond. Beller’s whistleblowing prompted investigations in Argentina and Chile, including a congressional commission probing Cerimedo.
The Bolivian attorney general who arrested and charged Cerimedo with femicide for the attack on Beller was sanctioned by the U.S. and later detained by Bolivian authorities.
Beller says she fears for her life and the life of her unborn child, which Cerimedo allegedly fathered. She is calling on the international community to support her in the face of political lawfare, attempted femicide, and state repression. Please share far and wide.

Rest in peace, Dolores Huerta. 🕊
We will continue to be guided by her decades of pathbreaking labor organizing.
Congratulations once again to all the fraudulent "humanitarians" who propped up the attacks on Venezuela's revolution for years, paving the way both for its current colonization by the US and the now constant attempts to delegitimize any election in LatAm where fascists lose.
🇧🇷 "I address the Brazilian people and the international community as the true elected president of Brazil."
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost Sunday's presidential runoff to incumbent Lula da Silva by about 4.4 million votes, is claiming the presidency in a statement released from Miami, United States. Without offering any evidence, he calls the result "electoral fraud.”
In the statement, Bolsonaro:
➤ Blames a last-minute Supreme Court decision extending voting hours, which he says arrived "after the legal closing time." He does not mention that at 3:50 p.m. Brasília time, his Liberal Party campaign also asked the Superior Electoral Court to extend voting to 7 p.m. in 19 rain-hit cities in São Paulo, Paraná and Santa Catarina. (It also asked that results be held back until voting there ended.)
➤ Calls the Supreme Court investigations against him a "politically motivated witch hunt," saying "there is no arrest warrant against me because I have committed no crime"
➤ Says "I didn't flee Brazil, I left Brazil," comparing himself to Charles de Gaulle, José Martí and Venezuela's Juan Guaidó
➤ Thanks Trump and Argentine President Javier Milei, and vows to "lead the opposition here.” He also praises Venezuela’s María Corina Machado for having "refused to legitimize the fraud,” and calls on international community to not "normalize what is happening in Brazil”
Bolsonaro faces two Supreme Court investigations into alleged corruption and money laundering. He missed Tuesday's deadline to hand over his passports before fleeing to Miami.

Israeli forces have displaced nearly 5,000 Palestinians in Hebron, in the illegally occupied West Bank, and proudly displayed one of their alleged discoveries: a toy gun.
To achieve this “tremendous” result, the IDF forcibly displaced 780 families from their homes in Hebron: 4,969 people in total, including 312 with chronic illnesses, 44 with disabilities, 216 pregnant or breastfeeding women, 441 adults aged 60 or older, and 336 children under the age of two.
The IDF’s operation in Hebron has nothing to do with security. It is an act of collective punishment.
