The system itself is creating an incentive for landlords to profit from the housing crisis.
If a landlord can get ยฃ600 a month renting a house privately, but can get ยฃ1,600 a month or more by putting that same property into temporary accommodation or converting to a HMOโฆ.what do we think is going to happen?
And for much of this the taxpayer picks up the bill.
Itโs not just HMOs landlords are ENCOURAGED to profiteer from, itโs temporary accommodation in general and some of it is in utterly shocking conditions. Families in desperation are being put in houses we would not accept living in ourselves.
The Housing Executive and Department for Communities need to answer how this is happening on their watch.
First - who is checking the quality of the properties, secondly why isnโt there a cap on what can be paid for each property, linked to average local rental prices and the condition of the accommodation?
Nobody is saying landlords shouldnโt make a fair return.
But taxpayers should not be funding excessive profits.
The current system appears to reward landlords for exploiting a housing crisis โ while the Housing Executive signs the cheques and the Department for Communities does nothing to fix the problem.
The taxpayer is funding this negligence and mismanagement while local families and communities pay the price.

It is genuinely stomach-churning to watch people turn a real tragedy into a game of online conspiracy theories.
Nine human beings lost their lives in that plane crash in Florida. Nine families just had their entire worlds shattered, left with empty chairs at their tables and an unbearable grief that will stay with them forever. Yet, within hours, the internet is flooded with callous claims that "it's not real," "it's fake," or that it was somehow staged.
It is utterly hideous.
There used to be a basic baseline of human decency a quiet respect for the dead and empathy for the grieving. Now, the moment lives are tragically cut short, people rush to farm engagement, chase clout, and spread reckless falsehoods without a second thought for the loved ones left behind. Imagine burying a family member only to scroll online and see strangers denying that your pain is real. It isn't just misguided; it is downright cruel and disgusting.
If you can see a human tragedy where nine souls were lost and your first instinct is to spin it into a fake conspiracy, you need to step back and examine what you've lost inside yourself.
Hold space for the victims. Rest in peace to the nine souls, and may their families find strength through this absolute nightmare.

What a stupid day today has been for Britain.

One of the weirdest things about X is the people you annoy the most rarely leave.
They tell everyone they can't stand you. They complain about your posts. They roll their eyes at everything you say.
Yet somehow they're always first in the comments, first to watch, first to react.
At some point it's worth asking: if someone genuinely irritates you, why dedicate so much time to following them?
Disagreement is normal.
Obsession is something else entirely.
The truth is, some people don't follow because they like you.
They follow because you've become part of their daily routine.
And that's a very strange relationship.

The best tweet you will see all week. Big up Ziggy โฅ๏ธ
Let me explain why this is a big deal.
Ziggy, the jack russell is a rescue. My wife rescued him a year before she rescued me. 10 years now.
He was at risk of being shot by a farmer as he kept escaping and bothering his sheep. My wife was his third family.
He is cantankerous and unpredicatable. When on the lead he is very aggressive to other dogs.
For 2 years my wife and her daughter tried to persuade me to get another dog and I was convinced it could never work.
They wore me down (women!!) and I said I wasn't going to do it unless we got a dog that really needed a home.
Evie really needed a home.
But when they first met at the Dog's Trust they were great. They played together and did zoomies in the field.
We took him to see her twice a week for a month.
Then 6 weeks ago we took Evie home.
And Ziggy has totally stepped up to the plate. He has been amazing.
And tonight, after 6 very hard weeks he has decided he just doesn't want to be pack leader and alpha, he wants to be friends too.
This past 6 weeks has been amazing, both good and bad. From Evie arriving and hiding behind the shed. Me scaring her by knocking the metal towel rail down and she wet herself and spent 20 hours in her bed.
Her escape almost broke us it was so terrifying.
Slowly, it is all coming together.
I can't stress how nervous she still is but also can't stress how far she has come.
A 3 year old puppy that never saw daylight and was used and abused just to breed pups.
If one pic (out of many) does my heart good, it is this one.
I dedicate this tweet to Ziggy. He is a much better man than I gave him credit.
Sorry, Ziggy!
P.S. Now they are both on the sofa I really do have nowhere to sit ๐

The problem with celebrity traitors has always been that there is no jeapordy. No risk. No reason to win.
I suggest that if a celebrity is banished then they are actually banished. I hear Somalia is nice.
I also suggest that if a celebrity is murdered then we actually guillotine them. On Live TV.
I'd pay the BBC tax for such a show.
