A "tough choice" is deciding whether to feed your children or heat your home. Austerity is not a tough choice. It is a political choice to wage class warfare on the most vulnerable. The right choice is taxing the rich, public ownership, and a redistribution of wealth & power.

I should have said most successful "disaster capitalist" PM the country ever had. That's what she was.
A message has been posted (possibly under duress/by another person) to Elnaz Rekabi's Instagram stories in Persian: 'Dear and honourable compatriots of Iran, I am Elnaz Rekabi, with a history of twenty years as a member of the national mountaineering team.

There are too many climate advocates with no expertise in social science claiming to know with certainty what will work best. They all tend to say “let’s keep doing more of what we’ve been doing for decades.” News flash: it hasn’t worked

If you’re appalled at what 2 people have done to a rectangle of glass, wait until you hear what our growth economy is doing to our ability to keep on living on this planet.
This is a total disgrace. These people make me sick. I hope when they eventually get to court the judge has the guts to sentence them to imprisonment for at least 6 months with no early release. Hopefully scrubbing the toilets.

The core problem is that k8s allows us to treat containers as cattle, but images are still treated as pets. "Mom, I want this new image!" "Who's gonna take care of it?" "Me!" "You're gonna feed it and walk it and scan it for CVEs?" "Uh huh!" "Even when it's raining?" "Sure..."

A tweet to really enjoy for readers who remember Thatcher and Reagan. And to highlight how the UK is trapped in Back to the (Eighties) Future, while the US has moved in
I am sick and tired of trickle-down economics. It has never worked. We're building an economy from the bottom up and middle out.

We need a written, codified constitution. How many times in the world of 24 hour media do we need to see experts, journalists & constitutional experts on panel debating for hours what happens next - but always adding "no one really knows." Let's actually work towards democracy.

History is not prewritten. It is made "Increasing inequality, between people and regions, rentierisation of the economy, stagnation in productivity, these are a recent development. Not something eternal, it is something created" theguardian.com/commentisfre…

So now, we, as a country, are stuck being run by truly awful people who have no idea what to do about anything, and no honour, decency, self-control etc. And it's largely Cummings's fault, because he foisted those people on us. In order to try out his experiment. \end

In other words, when this logic works through what we get is the government subsidy working straight through the economy to benefit the already wealthy whilst those hard up continue to just get by, at best. That’s the net result of this.

The conclusions from this research are pretty simple: if you want to improve social outcomes, then focus on universal public services. And from more recent research we know that when these services are democratically managed, they are even more effective.

So Boris Johnson is pushing to relax health and safety rules to ease the cost of living crisis? Here's a better idea: impose a Windfall Tax on oil & gas giants and use the money to lower people's bills. And then bring energy into public ownership so it serves people not profit.
