Today, 2 tons of bananas was $380. Out of that amount, $150 went to isbaaro extortion and $130 to transportation. That leaves us with just $100 to cover workers’ wages, fertilizers, fuel, equipment maintenance, and all our other farming expenses.
We literally working for isbaaro
We are not just growing bananas; we are working to pay the isbaaro.
How can local agriculture grow when farmers are left with almost nothing after transporting their produce to the market?

So disgusting. You’re the son of Sri Lankan Muslim immigrants to the UK, you racist clown.
Alhamdulillah, I’m delighted to share that I’ve been accepted into a PhD program in Technology! 🎓✨
I am deeply grateful to Allah SWT for blessing me with this opportunity and for giving me the strength, health, knowledge, and ability to pursue so many meaningful things in this life.
This achievement is a reminder that every opportunity is a blessing and every step forward is by the will of Allah. I pray that Allah continues to guide me, increase me in beneficial knowledge, and give me the wisdom and humility to use what I learn to benefit others.
May Allah put barakah in this journey, make it a source of growth and positive impact, and allow me to use my knowledge and efforts for good in this life and, InshaAllah, as a means of reward in the Hereafter.
Alhamdulillah for every blessing, every opportunity, and every new beginning. 🤲🏽

Somalia National Bureau of Statistics has launched a month-long MICS7 Main Survey Data Collection Training.
The training comprises 155 data collectors drawn from the various Federal Member States & Benadir Region. More than 95% of participants are women, underscoring the role of women in reaching households & collecting important information with trust, privacy & cultural understanding. SNBS’s Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys engage mostly women as survey workers because many of the respondents they need to reach are mothers & children.
SNBS is conducting the training with technical support from UNICEF & in collaboration with Federal Government line ministries, departments & agencies.
A key focus is strengthening communication skills alongside technical survey methods. Through practical exercises, role plays & demonstrations, participants learn to build rapport, listen actively, ask questions respectfully, manage difficult interactions & clearly explain the purpose of MICS, confidentiality & how collected information will be utelized.
The training will equip field teams with the knowledge, skills & ethical standards needed to collect high-quality, reliable & internationally comparable data in line with MICS7 standards. Quality data begins with trust & trust begins with effective communication.
MICS7 is a major national undertaking in understanding well-being of children & households countrywide. The evidence generated will strengthen data-based policies, planning & decision-making, helping ensure that national priorities respond to realities & needs of Somali families. @AbdisalamHumbul @abdirahm_omar

Waxa aan la yaabanahay odayaashii hore ee soo gaaray dowladihii Soomaaliyeed ee horreeyay, ilaa tii militariga ahayd, iyo sida ay u xoogganayd xusuustoodu.
Waxa cajiib ah in dhacdo kasta, wada-hadal kasta iyo arrin kasta oo qof ama koox dhex martay ay si faahfaahsan u xasuustaan, sidii ay dhacdadu u dhacday. Xitaa hadalkii iyo qaabkii loogu yiri ma hilmaamaan, cidii goobta joogtay way xasuustaan, wax kasta oo dhacayna waxay u hayaan xusuus cad. Ha ahaado nin ama haweeney, askari ama wasiir, macallin ama qof darajo kale haya—waxay u muuqataa in xusuustoodu aysan si fudud u lumin.
Dhanka kale, dadka maanta nool mararka qaar xitaa wixii ay saacad ka hor cuneen iyo qofkii ay la joogeen si sax ah uma xasuusan karaan. Dhacdooyinkii 24-kii saac ee ugu dambeeyay qaarkood way ku adkaadaan inay si faahfaahsan u sheegaan; qaarna haddii fiidkii la weydiiyo waxa ay quraacdeen, xitaa quraacdoodii way hilmaameen.
Runtii, farqiga u dhexeeya xusuusta jiilashii hore iyo tan dadka maanta nool waa arrin mudan in laga fikiro. Maxaa sababay in odayaashii hore ay dhacdooyin tobannaan sano ka hor dhacay u xasuustaan si faahfaahsan, halka qofka maanta nool uu mararka qaar illoobo wax dhacay saacado yar ka hor?

Today, 1 August 2026, we commemorate the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the Puntland, a historic moment born from sincere consultations, collective aspirations, and a shared determination to create a new political path for Somalia based on federalism. The founders of Puntland laid the foundation for a model of self-governance and contributed to the broader vision of rebuilding the Somali state. Although federalism has become part of Somalia’s constitutional order, the journey of state-building remains a responsibility that requires wisdom, unity, and commitment from all Somalis.
On this occasion, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Puntland and to all Somalis who see this day as a symbol of hope, resilience, and a new beginning in Somalia’s state-building journey. I offer my special congratulations to President Said Abdullahi Deni, the Puntland Government, and parliament. I also pray that Allah (SWT) grants mercy to the founders of Puntland, rewards them for their vision and sacrifices, and blesses all those who continue serving the cause of peace, stability, and development.
May this 28th anniversary bring a renewed spirit of dialogue and reconciliation among Somalis, and may it open the door for a lasting political understanding between the Federal Government of Somalia and its opposition. May Allah guide our leaders toward wisdom, unity, and may this anniversary strengthen our collective hope for a peaceful, prosperous, and united Somalia.

Midnight Mogadishu
Three things impressed me on my second foray into the City. First, I visited an upscale restaurant for dinner. The restaurant, located at Baraka Mall, is part of a modest modernist mixed use building of about eight or nine stories, featuring multi residential floors at the top. A floor below the residential units is dedicated to apparel selling designers clothings and shoes. Some of the tenants include Levi’s, Gap and a couple of European outlets I am not familiar with. Right on top of the restaurant is a huge grocery with varieties of food to choose from. The restaurant occupies the first floor with a huge terrace used as a dining area. It also serves as part of a bistro.
Papparoti, located on the first floor, is an international chain restaurant popular among the young urbanites. But the main attraction is the anchor restaurant which serves high end meat dishes. The oven roasted beef and lamb meat are a lot better, well seasoned, and tastier than the popular Brazilian Fogo de chao. The price is inviting and portions are hefty: Two huge plates can easily serve five or six people.
My most impressive and pleasant experience was the number of young and beautiful women who work as receptionists and waiters. I have seen over 15 young Somali women serving the restaurant. This was a new experience for me to see independent Somali women working and earning clean market-based wages. Their smiley, fearless, and outgoing attitude still under their beautiful Hijab that augments their naturalness and Somali beauty really impressed me. They lightened my heart.
Somalia may have fallen temporarily but it is certainly rising out of the ashes. With conflict, goes a Somali adage, boys and girls perish; but with peace the same cohort thrives. Mogadishu and its youth is thriving with peace.
