Bought @heydigit comprehensive insurance for my mom’s Tiago EV.
The car was parked when the area flooded with rain. It wasn’t started or charged afterwards, and we had it towed straight from there to the workshop.
On inspection, the workshop found water inside the e-drive. It had to be sent to the Tata plant for repair.
Digit is now rejecting the e-drive claim. They say it’s “consequential loss” from water ingress and “continued operation,” and that I’d need a Transmission add-on for it to be covered.
There was no continued operation. The car was parked, flooded, and towed. Flood is a named, covered peril in the base policy. If water entering a flooded car doesn’t count as flood damage, what does the flood cover actually pay for?
We will file a grievance, and go to IRDAI and the Insurance Ombudsman if needed.

Feel a sense of schadenfreude when you see cars like this that stop very stupidly in the middle of a high speed highway and get totaled.
Details shared by Saurabh Sinha
Location - Yamuna Expressway
There's a Food Court right after the toll. The Punch driver probably thought to go there when seeing it and for that he stopped the car in the fast lane all of sudden, There was a car right behind him that saved itself by taking a left turn just in the nick of time But the bus which just entered the fast lane missed this car and hit the car at the rear hard.
In the video, you can see the car rolled about 60–70 meters after being hit before stopping; additionally, the back of the car is badly damaged. The passengers weren't harmed but it was really scary seeing this absolutely stupid and negligent behavior. I was also lucky as I didn't get hit by the bus coming from behind me.

What are India’s biggest news publishers, including NDTV, Network18, Times Internet and the Indian Express, telling the Supreme Court about Modi’s privacy law? They are all part of DNPA, @publishers_news
Below is from their Supreme Court filing:
🔹 The law would “render investigative journalism a benign and neutered recorder of events”
🔹 The provisions “constitute pre-censorship which is anathema to any democracy worth its name”
🔹 Requiring a journalist to notify the subject of an investigation and seek consent “would allow that subject to destroy evidence, intimidate witnesses”
🔹 From next year, New Delhi can order any organization handling personal data “to furnish such information as it may call for,” putting newsrooms at risk of having to divulge sources
🔹 The “nakedly unguided” provision “can extend to privileged communications in possession of a reporter or the informant”
🔹 India “has chosen to grant broad exemptions to the state, while failing to extend any corresponding protection to the press”

Why does getting decent AC in an AC cab have to be an argument, EVERY SINGLE TIME?
I took an Uber Go for a short ride.
It’s been brutally hot in Mumbai lately, and as usual, the AC was on 1, so I asked the driver to turn it up to 2.
He told me straight to my face that I’d booked a Go, so the AC could only run on 1.
When I tried to reason with him, he explained the categories to me:
• Go: Stays on 1, no matter what.
• Sedan: Stays on 1, can go up to 2.
• Prime: Stays on 1-2, can go up to 3.
• XL: Stays on 1-2, can go up to 3 or higher.
According to him, these rules apply across cab aggregators.
So apparently, I'm supposed to choose my cab category based on the blower speed I want.
A bigger car, more legroom, a more comfortable ride - those are upgrades I understand.
But turning the AC up from 1 to 2, or even 3? THAT’S an upgrade?
Who's going to tell him that the compressor does the heavy lifting in the AC system, not the blower?
We already pay for an AC cab, and decent cooling is part of the ride, not a luxury upgrade.
Get real, @Uber_India @Olacabs @rapidoapp_.

I agree with Zoru on this. At Marine Drive, Worli Sea Front or other seafronts, before Covid you could chill there the whole night. Police would never throw people out.
Ever since the lockdown, those places have suddenly become no-go zones after midnight. Why?

Construction sites in Mumbai casually displaying PM2.5 as ZERO while the rest of the city is choking.
These monitors are about as accurate as a weighing scale in a shady gym that always says you’ve lost 5 kg.
Next innovation: bottle the air as “Himalayan Fresh.”
Even a kid knows these are just expensive paperweights.

Well reported @Osamaarawal
All these AQI Monitors outside Construction Sites all without doubt display fabricated figures.
Just because @mybmc has made it part of SOPs to supposedly monitor AQI it's just fixed as an ornament at the sites just like the water mist sprinklers.

Mumbai AQI criticism: Look at Singapore. It also has poor AQI.
Mumbai infrastructure criticism:
You can’t compare us with Singapore. Compare population and per capita income.
So Singapore is a valid comparison when defending pollution but suddenly an unfair comparison when discussing infrastructure? Pick a standard. You can’t cherry pick comparisons to defend every failure.
As India braces for Delhi - Mumbai "pollution season" and accompanied protests (we can all predict this), do read my post below.
Attached is a photo of Singapore in media some days ago. It seems their pollution level had gone to hazardous levels.
Not because the well managed and clean city-state did any mistake, but because of Indonesia burning their forests.
The fires of Indonesia themselves seem a little suspicious. They didn't happen naturally but were lit widely by humans - specifically companies. Right at a time when the wind will turn towards Singapore.
So the Singapore govt is now taking some extreme steps like going after these culprit companies even if they are based outside Singapore. Good work by their govt.
But here's what Indians need to understand. Delhi or Mumbai pollution getting worse at this time of the year is not because of automobile, not because of road dust, not because of construction activity as they are all always blamed.
They do contribute their bit, but never as much as farm fires. Just like Singapore facing Indonesian farm and forest fires, Indian cities face farm fires lit by our Anna Datas in many provinces.
The govt and local authorities are afraid of them. They have already been encouraged to use machines and compactors but they wont. If authorities go to tell them to use it, they may get violent and force the authorities to burn the farms themselves.
Now what I feel is going on is some kind of deliberate burning at the right time, using wind direction, to cause pollution in Delhi and Mumbai. Just like Singapore is being hit with pollution from Indonesia by some companies.
So people can protest all they want against Delhi and Mumbai govt in the coming months. They can imagine if they do a "regime change" this pollution issue will go away. But this pollution isn't going away until farm burning stops.

Riding on concrete highways is such a pain in the ass. More and more concrete highways are being constructed these days, but the experience they offer isn’t great.
Unlike asphalt highways, concrete highways don’t provide a smooth ride. The expansion joints every 50 to 100 metres make the ride bumpy and uncomfortable. Ride 200 km on one of these highways in a single stretch, and you’re likely to end up with a back pain.
I still miss those smooth asphalt highways so much! I know concrete highways have longer lifespan but is there anything that the NHAI could do to make them smooth and provide a better riding experience?
