If you’re a builder, build a biz and raise your capital from a bank.
Can attest to Molson’s point. I’ve raised ~$10M of capital my entire life (65,000 lb vehicles don’t fund themselves). I find it’s easier to build a $10M business, get to $10M EBITDA, get to $10M free cash flow.
Then, random people work your network to get on your calendar and beg to throw $20M at you. Magic.
Then, use your building skills to figure out if you want OPM (other people’s money) and what you’d do with it.
@jimbelosic is the poster boy for this.
But, before you take anyone’s money, tell them exactly what you’ll do with it and what you won’t do. Words like “pro-rata rights” and “information rights” go right out the window. Bring it up once and you’re blocked from my outlook and iPhone.
You want to invest in @ChangRobotics? You better be on board with slinging the Gospel while building the most advanced robotics systems on earth. You better be on board with employees and customers being regarded as more important than investors. You better be on board with promoting women through pregnancy. You better be on board with tithing 10% of free cash flow as the least we can do. You don’t have to be on board with prayer, but expect us to teach you. You better be on board with engineers leading a company and not a financially engineered company. You better be on board with data privacy. You better be onboard with going LOOOONG on CR and America 🇺🇸.
Are YOU worried about your portfolio? WE are here to work as unto the Lord and glorify Jesus through building factories other countries could only dream about. We do that, and the portfolio will take care of itself. We are under covenant with God, you will be under covenant with us. You still want in?
Okay, now you can have a 30 minute meeting.

All over the country, kids just watched the Roadster fly and decided their own crazy ideas might be possible too.
Thanks, @elonmusk.

It's because only 1% of businesses even know how to redesign the workflow to make it useful in this age.
My favorite thing to do is to take young people in the office to a cubicle and show them this ancient runestone called an inbox tray.
I describe to them how their ancestors used to print things out and put the paper there for people to read, off a screen.
They rightly point out how inefficient that is, because our networks are distributed.
And then I remind them that us uncs designed the whole system of work to be just like that, but on computers.
Time to invent something completely different than the wheel we keep reinventing.
Because where we're going, we don't need roads.

Unpopular opinion: There is no greater time to be alive than right now. The good old days were outhouses, no electricity, wagons, saddle sores, and worse.
Stop scrolling for a second.
I just want you to pause for a moment. We live in the most incredible time to be alive in the history of this species
Every other day a new revolutionary product drops that gives you more freedom, power, and ability to do ANYTHING you want
LITERALLY every other day
A couple weeks ago Astra gave you super intelligence. Today Opus gives you super intelligence at lightning speeds for dirt cheap. Soon Meta glasses will come out that let you talk to a super intelligent personal agent everywhere you go
Every day technology makes your life better and better. Every day you're capable of accomplishing more. Every day you have the ability to help out your fellow man more than ever before
For thousands of years nothing happened. But today, everything is happening
Please just take a moment and realize how incredible, awe inspiring, violently beautiful this all is
If you are one of the pessimists that haven't realized the incredible nature of what is happening right now, I beg you to view this world through a different lens
Being alive right now is the greatest gift God has ever given us. I hope everyone realizes this soon enough

I find it fascinating how many people think this is a bad time to start a company.
Grok 4.7, GPT-6 Sol/Luna, Opus 5.5, Astra, Gemini 3.8 Live, Muse, Instinct, Jev, Agent APIs etc. That's the last 3 weeks (crazy progress on personal agents/voice AI).
Because arbitrage means the same thing trades at 2 prices in 2 markets (and it's your wedge).
And usually you have to hunt for those gaps, because they're rare and they close the moment anyone notices.
What's different now is that they're opening faster than anyone can build into them!
I think this has got to be the greatest time for arbitrage in history.

Whatever you are studying, always keep a parallel portfolio of the things you create. A research result. A robot. A company. A piece of hardware. The world is becoming more interested in evidence of agency.

I dare say, nobody writes biographies of people who maintain the status quo! Break something, invent something, fix a problem. There's so much opportunity out there. You don't have to solve something globally; start small in your local community.

There will be AI generated journals soon, “peer reviewed” by other AIs, and published for AI’s to reference.
Probably will not be via the traditional publishing pathways, but I think this exists within 12 months.
