We are deeply saddened to learn that a driver has lost their life following the tragic incident involving two East Midlands Railway services yesterday evening. Our thoughts are with their family and loved ones, those receiving treatment for their injuries, and everyone affected.

#OnThisDay 123 years ago electric services commenced on the Mersey Railway with these very American-looking units. The railway environment had been unpleasant being steam hauled and underground so the company was struggling, electrification was its saviour buff.ly/zL7IW7c

EMU preservation isn’t about tales of luxury and privilege. It’s about machines that were wrapped up in millions of ordinary lives, of moments & memories shared by the hundreds & thousands of people who wove their stories while using these workaday units as they were built to be.

An equally neve racking and exhilarating 3 minutes. I think I did okay under the careful supervision of Jack from the @class_507, who I need to thank once again for the opportunity. Full video soon.

I drivved a Class 507 today.
There were no screams.
All passengers survived.
Equipment was returned to owners the right way up, with all parts still attached & not engulfed in flames.
All in all, a win.
Many thanks to @class_507 & @AlstomUK for making the SETG most welcome.

Minions on Tour, sampling the astonishing work that @class_507 are doing with the support of @AlstomUK - we’re wondering how long it’ll be until @Project_SETG455 & 3417 can come and play!!

Another surprise in the form of @class_507 001 looking as fresh as the day it rolled off the production line. The team involved with the preservation have done a marvellous job 🙂 check out class507.org.uk/ to learn more about the history of this unit and how you can help
Another visit to 001, haven't been here since The Greatest Gathering so this was long overdue.

Had a great visit to Derby today for the preservation society members’ 507 open day. Great to see the unit with the batteries on and great to see other cool artefacts in and around the unit.
Thanks to the team at @class_507! 😁

#OnThisDay 41 years ago the final Merseyside Wirral Electrics Class 503 service ran. The first batch was built by the LMS in 1938, this driving trailer M29276M was one of the originals: looking anachronistic here in the relatively new Liverpool Loop Line buff.ly/CyUtbto
