It pisses me off that we keep crawling back into the same fucking cycle. After 10/7, I watched people rediscover their power. Encampments. Community organizing. Jail support. Food pantries. Mobilizations against ICE. Subway turnstile jumps. Communities protecting each other. People disrupting weapons manufacturers in a SINGLE DAY. We stopped begging for change and started forcing it. And somehow, we're right back to knocking on doors, campaigning for the lesser evil, and convincing ourselves that the next politician will stop the bombs and dismantle the very systems both parties spent generations building. How many times do we need to learn this lesson? Maybe one day we’ll stop trading disruption for campaign slogans and collective action for political promises. Maybe we’ll remember that we forced change because we made ourselves impossible to ignore. Our power was never in electing someone to save us. It was in organizing, disrupting, and protecting each other. Movements are supposed to hold politicians accountable, challenge the systems that sustain oppression, and build enough collective power to dismantle them. Not become fucking campaign machines for the very people they're supposed to hold accountable.

What do Cubans think about U.S. midterm elections they can't vote in, but that could shape their future? Belly of the Beast journalist Liz Oliva Fernández took to the streets of Havana to ask Cubans about Trump’s economic war and whether a new Congress could change anything.

In his 1956 article for The Nation, revolutionary scholar W.E.B Du Bois proclaimed his refusal to vote in the US elections: “I shall not go to the polls. I have not registered. I believe that democracy has so far disappeared in the US that no ‘two evils’ exist. There is but one evil party with two names, and it will be elected despite all I can do or say. There is no third party.”

DSA LA endorsed Nithya Raman, a Zionist, for mayor. The same DSA LA whose councilmembers, are sweeping unhoused Angelenos off the streets. They can't stand against displacement in Palestine because they support it here.
These 79 organizations want to know why Councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez and Ysabel Jurado are still defending Kevin de León and Gil Cedillo's racist 41.18 zones.

On this day in 1979, a group of Black Liberation Army members, supported by the May 19 Communist Organization, liberated Assata Shakur from the Clinton Correctional Facility in New Jersey, where she was serving a life sentence on charges of killing a state trooper. ■ The BLA wanted to begin carrying out prison breaks, and Assata increasingly feared being murdered by racist prison gangs and guards. ■ Sekou Odinga visited Assata under a fake name with a hidden gun, took two guards hostage, freed Assata without a single shot fired, and let the guards go unharmed. ■ Odinga, Mutulu Shakur, Marilyn Buck, Silvia Baraldini, and Susan Rosenberg were all charged with helping with the get-away and served time in prison in exchange for her freedom. ■ Assata lived the rest of her life in Cuba, where she was granted political asylum and government protection despite constant US attempts to extradite and hunt her down. ■ She referred to herself as a “20th-century escaped slave.”

And we will defeat defeat.
On this day, 47 years ago, the Black Liberation Army heroically freed Assata Shakur from prison. From Prairieland, to the Filton 25, to Fergie Chambers, to Jahki McCray: liberation for our political prisoners, by any means necessary.

It’s funny to ostensibly commit to a collectivist project by getting some selfies off. What amerikans have in common is their outsized ego and constant need to put their face in everything
Look what finally arrived… Very grateful to be featured in this special issue of Red America.

The critique of social media protective presence celebrities boils down to this: what politics are they advancing? What are they plugging people to do politically for the liberation of Palestine, or anything? It cannot be all videos of them getting beaten up and writing about it.

Good to see more orgs join the push to end Elbit, but it’s notable DSA’s refusal to mention Pal Action whatsoever or credit it by name for launching the global campaign to shut Elbit down SIX years ago. Is it because they’re too scared to name Palestine Action by name as it’s being targeted by the US and British government? Meanwhile, the image used on the second slide of this post is from a direct action I and 3 other people were imprisoned for participating in against Elbit in New Hampshire, with Pal Action US, and state repression is still targeting us and our comrades related to this action to this day. The paint on the Elbit sign in the image I personally put there myself and served jail time for. But I’m guessing this campaign will focus more on lobbying and performance than direct action, while they use what we did for their graphic design aesthetics. What they choose to leave out of this post says a lot about DSA.
You’ve probably heard the name Elbit (now Twenty-Six Defense) before, but what is it, and why do we need to force it out of the U.S.? Join us for our arms embargo campaign launch call on 10/29 to learn more RSVP: go.dsausa.org/arms-embargo-l…
