Abdul made this race about the cost of living, universal health care, and political reform. He stayed relentlessly focused on that message, even as Mike Rogers and Donald Trump threw everything they could at him. He has earned this victory, and he’ll be a strong voice in the Senate for our communities and neighbors in Michigan.

The GOP is going to get a look in the weeks and months ahead at just how ruthless the new Dem majorities in Congress are going to be in trying to press their sudden advantage that is greater than they expected.
The GOP should take notes and learn some lessons from what they are about to experience being in the "last" end of the whip while the Dems have the handle.
Politics is no longer a "polite" business and the GOP has take too long to adapt to the fact that the "gentlemanly" way of engaging with "colleagues" from the other party is long outdated.

The driver charged, Melissa Ramirez-Romero, is in the country illegally. ICE lodged a detainer.
Her blood alcohol was 0.14, nearly twice the limit. She also tested positive for cannabis. She crossed the double yellow at 63 in a 45.
Connecticut is a sanctuary state. Its Trust Act limits when local police can work with ICE.
A cop is dead. Three kids lost their mother. And the state's politicians are still arguing about cooperation with the people trying to deport her.
