Refs blew obvious penalty on last Notre Dame play and messed up the last second on clock. So much for luck of the Irish.

Briner: One of my duties is to keep the State Health Plan financially solvent… as an incentive for teachers, state employees. I will not let one hospital system destroy the plan, raise premiums on every teacher and state employee and send us into overwhelming debt. #ncpol #ncga

More on the decision here. Briner says as long as Atrium keeps to its plan to match costs for state employees to avoid them leaving for a competitor, then individual state workers shouldn't be afffected. But that's a big if. Still no response from Atrium. wral.com/news/nccapitol/atri…

BREAKING: @wbtradio once again has learned of explosive news involving CMS leadership. I’ve learned that the FBI & Dept of Justice is investigating potential wrongdoings by members of the CMS School Board and administration. Much of the investigation centers around the possible misuse of federal funds and other potential financial irregularities. I’m aware of at least 3 people that have been interviewed by the FBI. When contacted for statement, the office for the US Atty for Western NC said: “The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI have had an active investigation related to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Because the investigation is ongoing, we cannot provide additional details at this time.” This raises questions about CMS leadership to a whole new level. There are now two criminal investigations into CMS. The SBI is also looking into possible violations of state law. That’s in addition to the NC State Auditor’s office and the state bchool board also looking into CMS.

Washington needs a good power washing top to bottom. Five things I would do today to end corruption in Washington across all three branches of government: 1. Ban all stock trading. 2. Ban all participation in prediction markets. 3. Mandatory retirement at 75 years old. 4. Mandatory blind trust for individuals with a net worth more than $1 million. 5. Ban all foreign gifts to public officials, including foreign investments in their businesses or other entities.

Asked Dave Tepper about bringing MLB to NC. “Talk to (Hurricanes owner Tom) Dundon.” Went on to say Charlotte would have a “harder job” than Raleigh getting a MLB franchise “with that (NC) legislature.”

You want founders of companies to have to take out loans from the government to pay taxes on the theoretical value of what they are building. Meanwhile, hedge funds get a free government pass. You are weaving an insane, disgusting, Ayn Rand villain level economic fallacy.

If Lakers are worth $12.5B, the Schnall/Plotkin $3B buyout of Michael Jordan's Hornets looks pretty savvy 3 years later ... They'll spend the $$ and make Hornets competitive.

Update: The agreement is for $12.5 billion.
The Los Angeles Lakers are being sold to American businessman Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for a record breaking price over $12 billion, multiple sources told ESPN. Kushner and Iger were involved in the expansion process in Las Vegas, but a stunning turn, they pivoted to make an aggressive offer to buy the Lakers from Mark Walter, who had purchased a controlling interest in the team from the Buss family last year.

REP. CHUCK EDWARDS spox Paul Shumaker says: -Edwards only saw preliminary ethics report LAST WEEKEND -He was given little time to respond to allegations before they published Monday -Speaker Johnson asked Edwards to drop out -the process was driven by politics, NOT due process
U.S. Rep. @ChuckEdwards4NC dropped his re-election bid for NC's 11th U.S. House District this week after a House Ethics report cited him for inappropriate behavior. Edwards spokesman @Capcomminc is on this week's State Lines & offers this perspective on Edwards' issue. #ncpol #nc

When I was a lawyer at Gibson Dunn in D.C., we took our summer associates to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. A survivor spoke to us and said something that stuck with me: Lawyers need to know the holocaust did not begin with camps. It began when Jews were removed from institutions - above all, legal institutions. Judges stripped of their robes. Lawyers disbarred. Then, when law-groups were Judenrein, they codified laws that made discrimination systematic and "legal." First, you remove the Jews from the institutions. Then, Jews can be discriminated against without representation. On Monday, Mayor Mamdani announced his 18-member Advisory Committee on the Judiciary. The Committee was promised to be "truly reflective of New York City." Not one of the 18 is Jewish. Not one Jewish attorney, former judge, or law professor - in a city where one in eight residents is Jewish and even Justice John Leventhal, recommended by the State's Chief Judge, was rejected. It is estimated that over 50% of the New York bar is Jewish. That means there is a 0.0004% chance of no Jews being selected to the Committee. Mamdani’s marginalization of Jews has been ongoing, and few voices on the Left have spoken up. On Day 1, Mamdani revoked the IHRA antisemitism definition (top priority); he changed the NYPD guidance protecting houses of worship, eliminated Jews from the City's immigrant-heritage map, called for the arrest of the prime minister of the only Jewish state, and now created a Judenrein Judiciary Committee. My grandmother, Leah, survived Nazi Germany. Before the laws, before the violence, she told me how she was pushed out of her high school groups. Then, once excluded from all activities, she was bullied and marginalized. We are already seeing Step 2 in NYC. Two weeks ago, on a Jewish Holiday, two men were stabbed outside Upper West Side synagogues - one wearing a kippah- and yesterday, Jewish students were attacked. Every 26 hours, there is a hate crime against Jews in NYC. In NYC, there is a concerted effort to disappear Jews from public life and leadership. No one on the Left is speaking out. If this discrimination was happening to any other group, the chorus would be deafening. To be clear, Jews will find a way. Many are already taking their talents elsewhere. When white-shoe firms shut Jewish lawyers out, they built firms that now dominate. Cardozo, Louis Marshall, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg all found a way despite discrimination. But NYC will be worse off without us. A city government that is judenrein - cleansed of Jews – does not just hurt the Jews, but hurts the city. The tragedy is not just that Jews were left out of the institutions. It is that the institutions were left without the Jews. If you see this and have not yet spoken out, I encourage you to do so.
