One of the worst things AI has done to academia and writing is that now if you end your essay with a pithy line, they’ll take you out the back and shoot you
So many people don’t know the difference between subsidisation and regulation. So many people also don’t know the difference of sitting in a train for 6-12hrs and sitting in for 2 days. So many people don’t know that the poor don’t exactly enjoy spending their lives commuting
Genuine question. Does it even make sense to apply to so many programs?? I thought applying for a PhD entails first reaching out to a potential supervisor and trying to build a relationship with them and working out a potential research q and then applying???
I genuinely hate when people say shit like this. why do we keep acting like there was no communalism back then? india was never some secular utopia

Even a single billboard on the water is one too many.
Light pollution harms human health as much as noise does, and it is regulated in many of the countries Mumbai wants to emulate.
In August 2024, Awaaz sent suggestions and objections to the BMC's draft Hoardings Policy, which allowed unrestricted lighted hoardings across the city. In May, we wrote to the CM objecting to billboards along Bandra's coastal promenades.
We attached policies from the US and UK to our objections.
Yet Mumbai is now facing lighted billboards in our marine waters. Scientists and experts say floating billboards would bring "concentrated, high-radiance beacons right at the waterline, completely erasing natural marine dark corridors." Light from these LEDs can reach 40m underwater and disrupt plankton that feed in darkness, the base of our marine food chain.
India endorsed global guidelines on light pollution for migratory wildlife in 2020. Why are we ignoring them now?
