.@SpeakerJohnson Mike, this is at least the tenth time in 2 months you've run this exact "communism vs. constitutional republic" line. this is very dishonest. There are zero communists in Congress. Even the actual Communist Party USA's chairman said it himself: "I don't know any Democratic candidate for Congress that's a member of the Communist Party... though I wish there were." You're not naming a real threat. You're recycling a word because your own strategists admitted the "socialist" attack stopped landing, so you needed something scarier. We've seen this playbook before, and it destroyed real lives last time. In the 1950s, McCarthy and HUAC accused thousands of Americans of being communists with zero evidence. 10,000 to 12,000 people lost their jobs. Hundreds were imprisoned. 300+ actors and writers were blacklisted, many never worked again. It took the Senate until 1954 to finally condemn McCarthy, 67 to 22, before the hysteria broke. And you know the definitions don't match what you're selling. Democratic socialists believe in free elections, private property, and working inside democracy. Communism means one-party rule and no real elections. By that actual definition, you're describing your own side better than theirs: an unauthorized war in Iran, a president who pressured his own VP to reject a certified election he lost, a Human Rights Watch report this year calling out your administration for "concentrating executive power" and "undermining voting rights." You're not fighting communism, Mike. You're reviving a smear that ruined thousands of innocent lives, because you have nothing real to run on this fall. History's already told us how this ends. This is shameful. Stop lying to the American people.
