Went to the @poppylegion stand in Paignton this morning. At one point three of us @RoyalNavy veterans were standing together, chatting: a Scribe, a Club-Swinger & a Schoolie. Walking home, I realised it sounded like the beginning of a bad joke. π @Tigga594 @JaneFranklin99
Falklands War 1982. 15 @RoyalNavy cooks were killed in action. There were also 3 @RoyalMarines cooks killed in action with @45CdoGp. The threat to life was everywhere. Remembering. π«‘ @FalklandsinUK @JaneFranklin99 @Tigga594 @militaryhistori @I_W_M

The Battle of Two Sisters - Falklands War, 1982 π¬π§
On the night of 11thβ12th June 1982, the men of 45 Commando, Royal Marines, launched a daring assault against heavily defended Argentine positions on the Two Sisters mountains overlooking Port Stanley.
Fighting uphill across exposed, rocky terrain in freezing conditions, the Marines faced entrenched defenders, machine-gun fire, mortars and artillery. The Argentines held the advantage of high ground, but the Royal Marines pressed forward through fierce resistance, engaging the enemy at close quarters and systematically clearing their positions.
By morning, Two Sisters had fallen to the British. It was a hard-fought victory achieved through courage, discipline, determination and the fighting ability of one of Britain's finest military formations.

I see a lot of posts about athletics, running, and training on here. I am often reminded of a quote from Peter Coe, Seb Coe's coach and father:

Walk along Goodrington Proms. The wind is blowing from land to sea so it is flattening the waves. Very cold, with an icy wind. Reminds me of the Skegness poster - so bracing! A rainbow and a ship sheltering in Torbay. @JaneFranklin99 @SianVidak @Tigga594
A grim, windy morning in Goodrington, S Devon. 9am photo. Spindrift is flying off the waves. Wind is whistling through telephone wires. Next High Tide is 17.48 this afternoon. I may venture down for a look-see/sea... from a safe distance. @Tigga594 @JaneFranklin99 @SianVidak
