I estimate the number of agents per user will keep doubling every six months. Here's a look at some of the runtime changes we made to handle that growth.

incredibly excited to announce that droid is now v1.0 - we've modernized just about every part of our cli, including a full rewrite to the agentic engine that powers it. reflecting on the last few months leading this project, it has been awesome to see how heavily the team has embodied factory's operating principle of "build together," which is timely considering the doomer phase our industry is going through. "software factory" is a term everyone is throwing around these days but it often gives the vibe that humans are no longer in the loop. for factory, this couldn't be further from the truth. our agent factory is human-first: @ain3sh, @wenemilyy, @agent_crunchwrap and i went through every PR droid proposed, threw out the changes that overfit to a single model, and pushed droid to keep going. we collaborated on sessions together, experimented with hundreds of approaches, and fought the slop we left behind via huge refactors that we only had confidence in due to the extensive e2e tests we invested in half a year ago. getting to this point wasn't easy. it involved challenging our priors on how agents should work, deviating from old patterns, and setting innovative goals for our harness to hillclimb itself towards. attached is the video of the process that got us here - the result is the world's best agent. droid is back in first place, and we're here to stay.

On Terminal-Bench 4, Droid outperforms popular models’ native harnesses, with up to 20% better efficiency.

@FactoryAI builds Factory on @droid, and Finance is still one of the biggest internal users. Here are a few examples of how a lean team is building finance from the ground up on Factory, automating financial operations end to end:

factory got early access to beam through together before launch they used that window to test @reflection_ai's model on real coding + agentic workflows, including tool-error recovery, conflict handling + final repo verification by day 0, @FactoryAI already knew how beam behaved on the work that matters to their customers

Flying back from a week at @FactoryAI HQ in SF. Three weeks into the job. A few early reflections: 1/ I thought I knew what a talent-dense organisation looked like. I was wrong. 2/ The energy is unlike anything I’ve experienced. Everyone is all-in, relentlessly ambitious, and pushing in the same direction. No egos, no politics. Just an absurdly talented team having fun building something big. 3/ Leadership is everywhere. Product, engineering, sales, hiring. They get into the details and will change weekend plans to fly across the world to close a customer. 4/ The technical depth is matched by exceptional business acumen. People who can go deep on the product, understand the customer, and know how to win. Only three weeks in, and I’ve rarely been this excited about what’s ahead.

One interesting part of Delegations isn't just how it changed engineering at Factory, but also who else started shipping. PMs, sales, design: anyone can collaborate and hand off real work from the surfaces they already live in. If you want to own the PDLC, the product has to be low-friction for all personas. Once an admin sets up Delegations, that end-user friction drops to zero.
Introducing Delegations, now generally available. Your team can hand work to Droid from the tools they already use.

So incredibly excited about this launch!! Being able to spawn long-running, asynchronous agents in their own isolated environments has been a huge unlock for my own work, and now with OpenCompute, any organization can access the same full suite of remote features that we have at Factory, even when they operate in highly-regulated industries with strict data sovereignty requirements. Agents can now run on any sandbox runtime, including on an organization's own VPC or bare-metal servers. One of the best parts about working at Factory is not just being able to reshape how software engineering works in the age of AI, but also to bring that vision to as wide of an audience as possible. This project is just one more example of how we're bringing the autonomous revolution to everyone.
Introducing OpenCompute: a self-hosted orchestrator for agent sandboxes on your choice of runtime. Adopting autonomous software development should not require handing over your valuable code and context to someone else’s cloud. Scale your fleet of remote agents while keeping them in your VPC.

Scalable cloud agents, securely in your environment, with zero infrastructure hassle. OpenCompute handles the sandbox lifecycle for you: spinning new machines up as they are needed, and down once sessions are over.

I joined @FactoryAI because I believe it can become a $100B+ platform business. Here's why: - The thesis: software engineering is the first real application of AGI, and the harness is where enterprise value is captured. Not a coding agent. A software factory that's model-agnostic, sovereign, with orchestration and governance built in. - The pull: in under 2 wks I watched our ARR grow by 8 figures. The biggest lands and upsells of my career, nobody seemed surprised. Demand is real. We're here to take it. - People & culture: relentless polymaths who speak up, champion one mission, and share every win. - The role: Europe is where our pitch lands best and where we're known least. As the first BD lead here, I see a massive opportunity, and I'm pumped. Software that improves itself. Coming to a city near you.

Factory's @TaylorTheSavage argues that Claude Code and Codex aren't necessarily the best tools for their own AI models, and third-party harnesses can actually outperform them: "One thing that I deeply believed before I started at Factory was that the harnesses created by the model companies are going to be the best for their models. Claude Code is going to be the best for Anthropic models, obviously, and Codex is going to be the best for OpenAI models, obviously." "Starting at Factory, I realized that is just not true at all. You can actually do a lot better than those harnesses, certainly on specific types of workloads, but also even in the general case. Different incentives than you have if you’re building a third-party harness." "Keeping them separate also allows you to not get too overfit towards one model. You need to be able to delegate between the different models, not just models from one particular company." "Like Shelby Cobra, you’ve got tuners of cars that can take a car that’s built by Ford and make it work better than it rolled off the factory line. You get things coming out from one OEM, and then you’ve got other people that tune it aftermarket. I think that’s absolutely true with harnesses and models." @FactoryAI
This week we're shipping our vision for the best cloud agent experience. We’re starting with an often-overlooked but critical foundation for any agent: the sandbox where it runs. Today, we’re introducing Environments, now generally available.

Now the best cloud agent experience on the map. Excited for you all to try it out.
Today we are introducing Remote Control. Your Droids run on a persistent self-managed remote machine, scoped to an individual user or service.
