Fiat theft occurs everywhere in a 4th Turning.
A Houston homeowner tested his water meter with a bucket after questioning his bills. The reading showed a major discrepancy. #enough #enoughhouston Read the full story at the link in the comments.

A safari is not only about the animals you tick off a list. The changing light, sounds, landscapes, and quiet moments are part of it too.

There’s no affiliate link for the phone you already own. @obi on why the safest Bitcoin custody setups are the ones the industry has the least reason to promote.
The Bitcoin industry is paid to recommend certain ways to secure your Bitcoin that are not necessarily the safest. I ran a Bitcoin exchange for nearly a decade. Now I run Fedi. I have incentives too. Here’s what nobody gets paid to recommend.

Blaming capitalism for the expanding wealth gap is like blaming the bathtub for the water rising. Crazy idea: turn off the faucet Crazy idea: don’t allow banks to create currency out of thin air

Omarchy Mobile now has a home: omamobile.org Native Omarchy on phones: Arch Linux ARM, Hyprland and Omarchy's own apps on a mainline Linux kernel. No Android underneath. No Google Play. On the Pixel 7 Pro, 19 of 22 hardware parts work today: display at 120Hz, GPU, touch, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cameras, GPS, fingerprint unlock, NFC, charging and more. Modem and suspend are next. Now I need help bringing it to more phones. Community ports are underway for the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 8 Pro, 9a and Fold, plus the OnePlus 13 and the POCO F3. The wanted list includes the Pixel 7, 7a, 6a, 8, 9, 10 and Tablet. If you have an unlockable phone and want to learn kernel bring-up, this is the project. Stock Android stays on slot A and your calibration data stays read-only, so it's built to never brick your phone. Point your agents at the repo, connect your phone to your computer, and let the tokens flow.

Let's be honest, even with education it's VERY hard to resist the temptation to pour water on top. Why? ... Because we've all played Pokemon and we know the fundamental elements. To kill Dracofeu🔥, you don't use Roucoups🐦💨, you use Tortank 🌊😌
Education is important. Knowing physics is important.

Security called me at 6:12 AM today. "Patch every PHP server immediately." I asked what happened. "Two critical vulnerabilities. Remote code execution. No authentication required." Cool. How many PHP servers do we have? According to inventory: 12 According to reality: Nobody knows. We found one running WordPress. Three running old internal tools. One under someone's desk. Two inside vendor appliances. A forgotten employee directory from 2016. And a server named: PHP-OLD-DO-NOT-TOUCH Naturally, that one runs payroll exports. Then we found a PHP 5.6 box. I asked who owned it. The documentation said: BRIAN. Brian left in 2019. We called Brian. He said: "Oh wow, that's still running?" Excellent. By 8 AM, leadership joined the incident call. CEO: "Can hackers actually get in?" Security: "Potentially yes." CEO: "Without a password?" Security: "Yes." CEO: "Then why do WE need passwords?" Not the lesson. Finance asked if we could wait until the weekend to patch because downtime affects revenue. Security explained that the alternative was letting strangers execute code on our servers. Finance asked for a cost comparison. At 9:17, someone suggested temporarily taking the vulnerable websites offline. Marketing refused. "Our campaign is live." So for the next hour, the company officially decided maintaining a landing page for 20% off webinar registration was more important than preventing remote server takeover. We finally patched everything we could find. Then our scanner discovered another PHP server. Hostname: TEMP-PHP-2014 Uptime: 4,512 days. Nobody knows what it does. Nobody owns it. Nobody can shut it down. But every time we block network access, the warehouse stops printing shipping labels. Security has classified it as critical infrastructure. It is running PHP 5.4. The vulnerability has existed longer than half our employees. The emergency patch took four hours. Finding out what PHP actually runs took eleven. The internet isn't held together with code. It's held together with servers everyone is afraid to turn off.

There’s no property tax in El Salvador. The govt. supplies all the programs and services by being efficient, with no corruption. Anyone who says property tax is essential to fund government services should study how El Salvador is providing world class services without property tax. ‘There’s enough money if no one steals’
YOU'RE NOT PAYING TAXES FOR THE PROPERTY, YOU'RE PAYING YOUR TOWN FOR THE SERVICES IT PROVIDES. THE ROADS, POLICE, SCHOOLS, FIRE DEPARTMENT, LIBRARY, SNOW PLOWS, EMERGENCY SERVICES AND SO MUCH MORE.

2 years ago I was tinkering with the first prototype of the “Plus” board. The goal was to upgrade the physical experience of using a @SeedSigner — larger screen for easier reading and better QR xfer, drop the stabby nub for a DPAD, swap microUSB for USBC and get the cord out of the way, and make interfacing with the microSD slot easier. And then bringing the pill shape back was a bonus win. Myself, @KeithMukai and a Noderunner called “MadBo” (who was also the co-creator of the BTClock) agonized over the specs, sizing and layout for the board. We must have gotten some of the details right because thousands of them have been deployed to bitcoiners around the world, and I think I can safely say that the majority of them have not been produced or sold by me. The design has also been forked to accommodate smart cards, batteries, and in one case, both. Although open sourcing both the board design as well as the reference enclosure wasn’t the most lucrative path, it was the best one because it’s allowed the magic of the SeedSigner project to make it into the hands of many more people than it might have otherwise, while also materially upgrading their experience of using a signer. We have much more in store wrt open software AND hardware development with the planned support for microcontroller architectures, but every once in a while it’s fun to glance in the rear view mirror and reflect a little on how far we’ve come. 🧡
Last night I spent a little more time working on an enclosure for this prototype display hat with a larger screen, DPAD-style controls, and a USB-C power port.

British Hodl just told you the Fabian doctrine. Listen when he speaks. They always tell you who they are
Watch how institutional power is not merely normalized, but openly celebrated in Bitcoin's social layer. Wealth, status, access, and proximity to power are elevated, while Bitcoin's founding principles, including sovereignty and the separation of money and state, are ridiculed. The values of the fiat system Bitcoin was created to challenge are being repackaged as Bitcoin's path to success. On November 5, Mars Spits Bars takes this worldview to BTC Inc's Bitcoin Amsterdam, on a Whale Pass-only panel titled: “BIG BITCOIN: IN CONTROL?” The CAPTURE articles documents the institutional relationships and mechanisms of influence. Bitcoin's social layer is the final line of defense against complete institutional capture. But if that very social layer is being conditioned to celebrate institutional power, ridicule principled opposition, and attack those exposing its concentration, who exactly is left to resist it?

Bitcoin was built on “don't trust, verify.” CAPTURE documents the relationships, incentives, and conflicts surrounding its institutions. Dan Held, who invested alongside BTC Inc's UTXO Management in Bitlayer, and also backed Liquidium, an Ordinals lending platform backed by UTXO, responds: “NO ONE CARES.” Quite the evolution of the ethos.
