Even with selection of easier flying conditions PPLs have a 10-100 higher accident rate per flying hour than highly trained professionally qualified pilots. (NTSB). Which show the importance of detailed, lengthy, high standards of training
Replying to @Parody_RCGP
Selecting low risk flights for a pilot is relatively easy though isn’t it. A flight in clear conditions, in daylight, with no passengers into a familiar airport is relatively low risk. Add in poor weather and the risk increases. Add in an unfamiliar airport it increases again. Passengers - still more risk, flying at night, more risk again. So each pilot will have their own limits and is responsible for keeping within them. Of course the passengers have no idea whether their pilot is a highly skilled ex military pilot with 20 years experience, or a 19 year old who trained in the US, has 500 hours under their belt and is on their third flight in that aircraft type.

GP independent contractors are best placed to run practices in NI if adequately resourced. Flexible, cost effective and never in deficit. The contract hand backs are a symptom of crisis. Treat the problem not the symptom GP investment is key. pulsetoday.co.uk/news/northe…
Atmosphere electric as Bob Dylan launched into this.
Bob Dylan and his band with A Rainy Night In Soho as the final song tonight in Dublin.

Wonderful scenes at the end—Bob stood up playing the piano towards the end of the song and the whole audience stood with him. Thank you Bob @bobdylan.

The govt should find 100 small things that piss people off & fix em, such as…
Ta to @politico for the vid, at its Labour fringe event, I explained that as big changes take time, govts should also have a team focused on small winnable change.
What little fixes'd you want?

I am I GP in a village practice - today I went to the regular community lunch. We work together with the schools, churches, parish council etc to look after our patients- that’s community health, that’s a neighbourhood @wesstreeting @doctor_katie @annalouisedixon @_RobbieMoore

This is disingenuous and misleading.
This is the scenario:
- You have £100
- I take £40 from you
- Now you have £60
- I give you £20 back
- You now have £80
Is it really unreasonable for you to demand the remaining £20 back over the next few years?!
No, it’s not.

Without a properly resourced and politically supported GP service, reset is a pipedream.
GPs are the beating heart of community healthcare, trusted advisors, educators, tireless advocates for patients
England-GPs-9.5% of health budget
NI-5.4% of health budget
See the problem?
The health minister Mike Nesbitt has said he plans to bring more services closer to communities as part of a reset plan for health and social care in Northern Ireland.

As per the DoH GPs in NI deliver200,000 consultations a week
1 million consultations per month
Population ofNI is 1.9million
If GP in NI is allowed to collapse due to underfunding those patients will have to seek care in an already swamped secondary care system
