“I don’t think that in my entire life as a journalist, I’ve ever reported on a more heinous crime than this.” Drop Site’s @jeremyscahill reflects on his reporting on the Feb. 28 U.S. strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh Primary School in Minab, Iran, which killed 156 civilians, including 120 children and 26 teachers. All 26 teachers killed were women, including one who was six months pregnant. “When it’s our bombs that are dropped on children across the world, we know almost nothing about who was killed in these strikes.” Scahill spoke with doctors, parents, teachers, survivors, and people who lost loved ones in the attack. “Part of what we set out to do was to approach this story and say: Let’s hear what happened that day through the lens and perspective of the people who survived it and those who lost their loved ones that day.”
For more than two months, I have been working on a truly horrific story about one of the gravest war crimes committed by the United States since Vietnam: The bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran. It was one of the first targets struck in the opening hours of the war on February 28, 2026. At least 156 people were killed in the U.S. cruise missile strikes—120 of them were children and 26 were teachers. We spoke to survivors, first responders, parents, doctors, teachers, psychologists, and other witnesses. Some of them had never before shared their experiences of that day. It would be impossible to do justice to what happened in Minab that day with words alone. In more than 25 years in journalism and reporting on war, I do not believe I have reported on a more heinous single crime. Massacre at Minab: The School That Became a Grave dropsitenews.com/p/minab-sch… Please share this story with as many people as you can.

🇧🇷 The US State Department will grant visas to defeated presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro and his family, a senior official told the Associated Press, as the Brazilian senator reportedly heads to the US after losing Sunday's runoff to Lula da Silva. "The State Department will issue visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family and allow them entry into the United States," the official said. Allies of the Bolsonaro family told Folha de S.Paulo that the Trump administration is aware of Flávio's trip and is expected to grant him political asylum. They said he could land in Miami or Dallas within hours. He reportedly traveled with his wife, Fernanda, and two daughters. The senator faces two criminal investigations at Brazil's Supreme Court alleging corruption, money laundering and foreign exchange evasion. He denies wrongdoing in both. Winning the presidency would have given him immunity from prosecution for crimes committed before taking office. Instead, he loses the special legal protection of his Senate seat when his term ends on Jan. 31, 2027. On Monday, Bolsonaro posted a video on Instagram saying police had served him a summons to surrender his passport as he left the home of his father, Jair Bolsonaro. The former president is serving a 27-year sentence under house arrest for attempting a coup after losing the 2022 election to Lula.

🚨INVESTIGATION: @LeverNews for the first time exposes the secret network of shadowy groups allowing AIPAC cash to flood into elections with no disclosure of its involvement. Cash boosted candidates through groups branded to popular causes that had nothing to do with Israel.

The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history. Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar. Maybe you should focus on what your VP’s real name is.

Egyptian authorities just arrested and imprisoned an entire newsroom last month. Now they are summoning the incredible journalist Lina Attalah, editor-in-chief and co-founder of Egypt's most important independent news outlet Mada Masr, for questioning yet again.
Lina Attalah, Mada Masr’s editor-in-chief, received a summons today from the Supreme State Security Prosecution to attend a questioning session on Wednesday, October 21. The summons did not say why she is being questioned. The new investigation, Case 9072/2026, is the sixth case brought against Mada Masr, its journalists and its editor-in-chief in the past six years. The most recent was in August 2025, when the security prosecution released Attalah on LE30,000 bail. She was questioned at the time on charges of “broadcasting false news” and “using a website without a license,” based on a National Security Agency investigation report, in relation to a Mada Masr story on prisoners’ complaints of abuse in detention facilities. When asked why she trusted the sources cited in the story, Attalah said she had abided by professional journalistic standards and had acted in the public interest. She also pointed to the legally protected right to inform authorities of events through publication, noting that the outlet presents a full range of viewpoints. storage.googleapis.com/madam…

There are going to be so many House Republicans I’ve never heard of losing their seats in two weeks to Democrats I’ve never heard of. I’ll be a googling maniac on the Breaking Points set, pretending I totally tracked that race.
Collin and Denton County are in for the first day. Prior primary voters swung 19.2 points toward Democrats. This is the first meaningful partisan interpretation of the in person early voting.
