It was a pleasure to receive Shri Vipul Agarwal, IPS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India, during his courtesy visit today.
We reviewed the progress of projects being implemented in Assam under PM-DevINE, the Special Development Projects (SDP) scheme and other DoNER initiatives, including projects taken up pursuant to the tripartite Memorandum of Settlement signed with various groups. Discussions also covered certain implementation-related issues and the need for continued coordination among all stakeholders for timely execution.
Shri Agarwal shared that the pilot project, “Branding Muga, the Golden Silk, as the State’s USP of Assam”, recommended earlier by the SLEC to the Ministry, can soon be launched in the State. The ₹59.83 crore project is expected to benefit nearly 14,371 Muga farming families across Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.

On the occasion of Sikkim’s Statehood Day, the ₹360 crore Mission Sikkim Organics was launched on 16th May 2026 in Sikkim, marking an important milestone towards building a globally integrated market economy for Sikkim’s organic products. Supported by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), the Mission seeks to elevate Sikkim from a certified organic producer to a premium organic economy driven by world-class infrastructure, aggregation, branding, traceability and export-market integration. The Mission Sikkim Organics will further strengthen farmer incomes, empower FPOs, expand cold-chain and logistics networks and impact more than 66,000 farmer families across the state.
