"- He said a story is a net. It can capture something as large as the spirit of the age or as small as the emotion of a man watching the last leaf fall from a tree, or sometimes both, and make one a reflection of the other." (Mark Lawrence, The Book that Wouldn't Burn, 2023)

I hate when people ask why I keep buying books when I haven’t finished the ones I already own. Please, let's respect ourselves.

I think we need to talk about the absolute joy of coming home from somewhere, taking your bra off, getting into your pyjamas and knowing you don’t have to go out again. There are few greater feelings.

Yes, I bought another book. No, I haven't finished the ones I already have. Yes, I intend to read every single one of them. No, I don't know when.

One thing about being a mood reader is that you can have five unread books waiting for you, but none of them matches the exact feeling you want from a book today. You don’t want a thriller. You don’t want romance. You don’t want anything too serious. You just want a book you cannot explain.

the two most embarrassing penalties in hockey: 1. Embellishment - you are a dramatic little diva, aren't you? 2. Too Many Men - you can't fucking count and probably can't read
