America does not need another political answer. America needs a spiritual awakening.
Today, I had the privilege of opening the Republican Party’s first-ever midterm convention in prayer. And my prayer was not ultimately about politics. It was about God.
I prayed that we would humble ourselves before Him. That we would have the courage to stand for truth, the conviction to defend life, the strength to protect the family, and the wisdom to lead with integrity and compassion.
As we celebrate 250 years of this great nation, may we pray for something greater than political victory: a spiritual rebirth in America.
May the Church rise.
May our hearts turn back to God.
May we walk in truth and righteousness.
And may we never forget where our ultimate hope is found.
Our hope is not in politics, parties or personalities. Our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ.
May God bless America, and may God call America back to Himself.
This past Sunday I had the joy of worshipping with the Park City Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL. Led by their pastor, Wayne Rowbottom, they have a heart to reach the nations. In fact, there were many nations represented in their congregation--Trinidad (the pastor's native country), Venezuela (his wife's native country), Brazil, Guatemala, Panama, Dominican Republic, etc., etc. What a joyous time we had! I was especially encouraged to learn that Pastor Rowbottom came to Christ in a church in Trinidad that was started by an @IMB_SBC missionary. His wife came to Christ in a church in Venezuela also started by an IMB missionary. It is no wonder that they love the IMB and want to cooperate to reach the remaining nations that have yet to hear the Good News. The seeds sown by Southern Baptist missionaries continue to bear fruit. Let's redouble our commitment to finish the task by greater praying, giving, sending and going!
Nell and I had the joy of accompanying Pastor Burt Parker and the Avenue Church of Needham, MA (Boston area) yesterday in worship. It was their "Missions Day." I love this photo as it gives a glimpse of the power of Southern Baptists' cooperative missions model. Burt is in the baseball cap. The other young people are summer missionaries. @NAMB_SBC and @IMB_SBC are partnering together to reach the world! One other neat detail about yesterday is that our son-in-law's mother graduated from Needham High School many moons ago. When she learned that we'd be sharing with this new gospel church plant in her hometown, she said that she's been praying all her life that just such a church would be planted in the western suburbs of Boston. Prayers answered! Let's press on together!

Today, Virginians can carry that spirit of liberty against tyranny with just one word: “NO.”
Join me in voting NO on the far-left’s unconstitutional gerrymander and get 10 friends to do the same between now and April 21st. We all need to fight in one direction against this blatantly political power grab that overturns the will of the people.
Billy Graham held a crusade in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1973. There he proclaimed, "Christ belongs to all people; He belongs to the whole world.” I love that. But there is a second, parallel truth to it. Not only does He belong to the whole world, but His Great Commission also belongs to the whole world. That means that it is not solely the privilege and duty of, for example, North American or European believers to carry the gospel across cultural divides. That privilege and duty is for African believers as well. And Asians. And Latin Americans. And the young and the old! In short, all the church has the responsibility to take all the gospel to all the world! We are together in this endeavor. As Daren Davis said, "The Great Commission is too big to do alone and too important not to do together (cf. Missio Nexus). Nell and I have been reminded afresh of this truth over the last couple of weeks. We gathered with African leaders in Johannesburg as they plan to send their own missionaries to the nations. Then I had the joy of being with our Korean brothers and sisters in Chicago as they too committed to taking the gospel to the world. What a joy all believers have to play a part, however modest, in His kingdom's work! Let's go! @IMB_SBC

Spent this past weekend with Pastor Steve Tiebout and The River Community Church in Cookeville, TN. He's the founding pastor and has been there for over 20 years! Faithful! The church has grown from a handful to touch thousands. They're engaged in missions locally and globally. At the IMB, we are grateful for partners like these! @SteveTiebout @therivercc @IMB_SBC
