“God has blessed us. A taste of the world to come.” Israeli settlers celebrate stolen olives harvest while Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank face settler attacks, crop theft and restrictions on accessing their own groves.

🚨Here I thoroughly debunk Israel's claim that 170 slain journalists were "terrorists." I checked every single entry on that list & every "evidence" the IDF provided. I was startled by how clumsy, shameless & sloppy their work is! 972mag.com/israeli-army-gaza…

Yes! Navi Pillay symbolizes respect for legal accountability for human rights abuses, for the rule of law -- those constraints that keep us free -- at a time when that structure and those values are under attack, particularly from the US.
In awarding this year’s #NobelPeacePrize, the Norwegian Nobel Committee wants to remind the world that the rule of law – national and international – underpins the system we have set up to ensure peace and resolve conflicts non-violently. Peace requires justice. History has shown that a world operating without the rule of law is unjust, unwise and inhumane. The judges – those who guard the thin red line between order and chaos – are therefore highly deserving of our praise. But today, as these same judges are sanctioned, and their institutions are attacked, we need people of courage, vision and determination – qualities that 2026 peace laureate Navi Pillay demonstrates in her work on the bench. #NobelPrize

Do you remember him? The heroic director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya — a historic symbol of courage, resilience, and humanity, shaped by the days and the hardships he endured. They besieged him, injured him, pursued him, and threatened him. His son, Ibrahim, was killed in an attempt to force the evacuation of Kamal Adwan Hospital. Dr. Hussam buried his son in the hospital courtyard, refused to abandon his patients, and returned to continue his medical and humanitarian duty. He even refused to leave Gaza, despite holding another nationality along with his family. He stood with a strength that even mountains could not withstand. A kind heart. An icon of resilience and integrity. He was arrested and subjected to abuse after his voice grew hoarse from pleading with a silent world until the very end. Free Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya. This is a photograph of imprisoned doctor Hussam Abu Safiya beside his son Ibrahim, who was killed while we were under siege inside Kamal Adwan Hospital. Today, Dr. Hussam remains detained in Israeli custody, facing ongoing allegations of torture and abuse. His family and supporters say this is the price he has paid for refusing to abandon his patients and continuing to provide medical care despite the siege, bombardment, and danger. He was a doctor who carried a mission — and he paid for his commitment to that mission with his freedom, his safety, and the life he devoted to serving others. His wife has made an urgent appeal to the world: “Save my husband before it is too late. His only ‘crime’ was saving the wounded and treating the injuries of children.” 🔹 Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a doctor of humanity, behind bars for carrying out his humanitarian duty. Do you remember Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya? The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, who remained beside his patients despite the siege, bombardment, and danger. He lost his son Ibrahim, then returned to continue his medical duty. Dr. Hussam was detained in December 2024, and since then, there have been continued calls for transparency regarding the conditions of his detention and for his release. A doctor who chose to stay beside his patients paid a heavy price with his freedom and safety. Freedom for Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya. Safety and protection for all doctors and patients in Gaza. #HussamAbuSafiya #KamalAdwan #Gaza #DoctorOfHumanity #Palestine

VIDEO | "This year, given the current situation, there is no one left from our Christian brothers in the village. We are ringing the bell ourselves, and this bell will keep ringing in the village." On the occasion of the Feast of the Cross, a Muslim resident of the southern Lebanese town of Blat stepped in to ring the local church bell because ongoing Israeli aggression forcibly displaced the village's Christian population: "This country will remain a symbol of coexistence; Muslims and our Christian brothers. Every year on a day like this, there used to be celebrations, and the church bell would ring all night long. This year, given the current situation, there is no one left from our Christian brothers in the village. We are ringing the bell ourselves, and this bell will keep ringing in the village."

Israel has lost the battle of global public opinion…irreparably. No amount of propaganda, disinformation, bullying, censorship, corruption, threats, kompromat or indoctrination will erase the memory of the depraved crimes committed against Palestinians.

Once again, the Israeli government is saying the quiet part out loud. Yesterday, Ben Gvir announced his new plan, “National Work Plan for Voluntary Emigration from the Gaza Strip”, which includes detailed preparations to forcibly displace all 2 million Palestinian residents out of Gaza over the next six years. This is full-throated ethnic cleansing, and the only thing the Israeli military is waiting on is the go-ahead from the US.

Israel just demolished a 120-year-old home in Ni’lin because it didn’t have a building permit. The house was built around 1906. The State of Israel was founded in 1948. The occupation of the West Bank began in 1967. So the paperwork they demanded was issued by an authority that didn’t exist when the walls went up. Bold bureaucratic innovation: retroactive zoning for a country that arrived later than the stone. Imagine the clerk: “Sir, we’re going to need the Ottoman-era permit, the British Mandate stamp, and the Israeli one you never applied for because we hadn’t invented ourselves yet. Also the land is now strategically important. Have a nice day.” Nothing says “rules-based order” like fining a building for missing a form that predates the form-maker. Next they’ll ticket the olive trees for growing without a 2024 agricultural license. Free Palestine. And maybe start requiring permits for founding states on other people’s already-built villages.

I visited these Palestinian villages in the spring. Families were still struggling to farm the land of their ancestors despite repeated violent attacks by settlers. The settlers also blocked me but left when I tried to interview them. What do you call this but ethnic cleansing?
BREAKING: This morning the ICA demolished the entire village of Khirbat Al-Taban, Masafer Yatta in Firing Zone 918. The whole community was forcibly transferred. Absent serious Int. pushback, Smotrich’s election campaign will lead to the destruction of many more communities

I recently confronted a former Netanyahu advisor on Israel wiping out entire villages in Lebanon He said without flinching "Yes, but we're only doing it to Shia villages, b/c those people support Hezbollah"
These are the ruins of Bint Jbeil. Israel has been systematically destroying towns and villages in Lebanon. This is an act of genocide. Genocide is defined under Article Il of the 1948 UN Genocide Convention as any act committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group. One of the five acts is “deliberately imposing destructive life conditions.” More than 65 towns and villages in Lebanon are still under Israeli occupation and are undergoing daily illegal civilian home and infrastructure demolitions.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz: The Israeli military and Shin Bet are operating five armed militias in Gaza as an operational arm for the forced displacement of civilians. An Air Force officer acknowledged that he was tasked with protecting these groups while they carried out war crimes and extrajudicial killings, in direct coordination with Israeli military forces.

One of the world's most brutal murderers is finally dead. At 84 years old the former Bosnian Serb general, Ratko Mladić lived way longer than he allowed his tens of thousands of victims. The more than 7000 Muslim men and boys he had slaughtered in Srebrenica will be his enduring shame. At least he was tried by an International Criminal Tribunal and found guilty of his enormous crimes of genocide. I am proud of the work we journalists did in the 90s to document his crimes against humanity, to finally hold him accountable.
