My opening remarks at Battle of Ideas debate "Declare your Pronouns: EDI and Compelled Speech"
The gloss in the blurb below isn't accurate though... this is because EDI professionals and EDI experts are two very different things.

Sex Matters is heading to the High Court on 3rd and 4th November.
We’re challenging the City of London Corporation’s decision to allow men who identify as women to use the Ladies’ Pond, including its changing rooms and showers.
The City has a lawful option: keep the Ladies’ Pond for women, the Men’s Pond for men and the Mixed Pond for both sexes. We’re asking the court to hold it to the law.

There is much that is stupid about this comment which others have rightly criticised, but it also shows either a weak grasp of alphabetical order or Philip Roth denialism.
Maybe its because he is Jewish?
If you ever sought out the novels of Sally Rooney in bookshops – when that was still possible – you’d know they sit in the fiction stacks adjacent to the novels of another SR whose books have been withdrawn in dastardly political circumstances. Until last week, “Rooney” and “Rushdie” had little in common beyond being shelfmates; now they have more than just a physical proximity.

Just had a meeting with the Dean of my Faculty alongside the Head of Employee Relations... Apparently I am under official investigation for writing a blog about how bad universities are at marketing. You literally couldn't make this stuff up.
This open letter from our arts elite opens with the straw man that Sally Rooney is not a terrorist. It never gets round to discussing her promise to fund a criminal group.
When did the intelligentsia decide it was cool to pretend to be thick? 1/3 newstatesman.com/cover-story…
These are bright people and at least some of them must realise that their letter is vacuous. They have made a choice to go for rhetorical effect over substance.
That’s their right as artists, but its depressing that this is what their punters want.

The same should apply to pronouns in emails.
I apply this prohibition to myself. It’s tempting to have a gender critical email signature, but I am able to see that doing this risks alienating the recipient. If they are a student, that’s out of order. 1/2 telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

Cannot aggre more with @MForstater. Although I disagreed strongly with several panelists - esp the one who blames the Race Relations Act for the crisis in free speech....
Listening to @AkikoMHart from @libertyhq defend GC beliefs and place current conflicts in a human rights and civil rights framework made me feel v v happy.

A mother was referred to Prevent and visited by police at home because of her visit to Israel and her interest in“Jewish issues”.
In yet another shocking case, Holly Passmore, a mother of two from County Durham, was visited at home last July by two plain-clothes police officers who wanted to know why she had recently travelled to Israel.
The officers told Ms Passmore, who cares for her severely autistic nine-year-old son, that it was a “safeguarding issue”.
A police intelligence report seen by The Telegraph reveals that the referral said she “over-identified with the conflict between Israel and Palestine” and was “supportive of Israel to the point that she has travelled to Israel”. It also described her as having “MH” — meaning mental health — issues and being “vulnerable to negative influence”.
Three days after the visit, Ms Passmore lodged a complaint. Two more officers, including a superintendent, then came to her home.
“They said that, clearly, I’m not a terrorist,” she recalled, explaining that they were keen to reassure her that police did not consider her a threat or an extremist.
“I thought that was strange at the time. You don’t usually end up with a superintendent on your couch.”
Ms Passmore’s concerns deepened when she discovered that her NHS records had been updated to describe her as a “vulnerable adult”, before later being changed to say she was no longer vulnerable.
It is now even more clear that Prevent is being weaponised by activists to silence people for their lawful and legitimate views.
These vexatious complaints also waste police time and resources.
Enough is enough.
