I am at a loss for words.
How many more residents, physicians, humans need to take their own lives before people start to listen?
Dr. Nakita Mortimer, you deserved more.

There is no amount of self-care or wellness that can fix a broken system.
How many more residents have to suffer?

The complete disregard, just the utter disrespect, that @MountSinaiNYC has for its workers would almost be shocking if you didnât know them any better. See you tomorrow Sinai.

Good morning to the 1400 resident physicians & fellows who are voting for THEIR union with @CIRSEIU! They've already accomplished so much, and now they're poised to make history by opening the doors to what workers can achieve with Phillyâs largest private employer. Solidarity âđž

the NYPD is on pace to blow past its allotted overtime budget for FY2023 by ~$366 million which is 16X what it would cost to keep public libraries open on the weekends. Keep in mind, $366 million isnât their OT budget, itâs what the NYPD went OVER their allotted OT budget ($374M)

I think unless you have someone in your life with acute psychiatric needs or addiction issues (separately or co-occurring) you donât really realize that there is almost zero real help for people in many places.

Residents all need to be unionized. I remember that exhausted, helpless feeling duringresidency (1999-2002, before workhour regulations). I am in a physician union now. I support residents unionizing 100%. âIf you donât have a seat at the table, then you are probably on the menuâ

On retirement equity.
âBlack Americans develop illness at earlier ages, live with more disabilities, die youngerâŚSo not allowing them to retire until theyâre older means theyâre not going to benefit from Social Security as much.â @LisaCooperMD @nytimes

Why do US medical residents work up to 80 hr/week (sometimes more), are often paid minimum wage counting all the work, have extremely high rates of suicide, and work 6 days per week w/ 24+ hr shifts?
The answer lies with cocaine & Dr. William Halsted.

Thinking this shortage, if it persists long-term, wonât kill people at least indirectly is a careless assumption. Depression and anxiety are common adhd comorbidities, both of which can be greatly exacerbated when executive dysfunction returns, which can often lead to self-harm.

The mayorâs proposed budget â while gutting rental assistance, legal aid, housing code enforcement, baby bonds, and low-cost public transit â buys enough ticket cameras to install on 1/3 of the 1,400+ miles of roadway DC owns. If budgets are value statements, what are we saying?
