A week on the French Riviera ☀️Thirty degrees from dawn till dusk everyday was a struggle! Visiting old favourites Nice, Villefranche, Antibes, Menton, Cannes and Monaco. Highly recommend!
Firstly, props to this guy for not pulling his punches. Worth the watch.
Any civilised society is built on the back of people like this. And if he does well, sells more pies, opens more pie shops, employs more staff, then everyone wins.
But clearly, this government isn’t interested in that. They want to squeeze businesses like this for every last penny of tax revenue.
It’s prophetic in some ways, you can choose to grow the pie or take an increasingly smaller slice of the same one.
One leads to abundance, the other to ruin.
Sorry for profanities but Oxford Street looks like an absolute fucking dump.
Non-British youths throwing rocks at people on Oxford Street during half-term a time when many families come out with their children to see the Christmas lights is apparently what @MayorofLondon @SadiqKhan says London needs more of.

I used to review officer-involved shooting reports generated by a D.A. explaining the decision to exonerate officers, and recall often thinking “I mean, could that *really* be how it went down?” I suspected there may be some fog of war or selective memory or post-hoc justification to give the officer a rational justification and paint the victim in a negative, irrational light.
But with the post-2020 adoption of body cams, I now believe it all. There is no behavior too insane for a huge number of suspects when confronted with literally any command by an officer requesting some form of compliance.
Even I thought body cams would shine a light on some substantial percentage of clear officer abuse, but it’s clearly negligible, while dangerous and erratic behavior by suspects is widespread. It is impossible to overstate how wrong BLM and reform activists were on this count.

That’s like saying a plane crashed because the pilot couldn’t fly after both engines failed. Technically human error, if you ignore the entire reason the human was put in that situation.

Rejoining the EU might help Labour squeeze the Lib Dems - but it would also mean gutting Andy Burnham’s own policy agenda, from devolution to reindustrialisation to trade to regulation. My latest for @theipaper inews.co.uk/opinion/burnham-…
If you're truly putting yourself out there and trying to change your life, only two things can happen. Either you take the risk and win, or you take the risk and almost win. But you never lose
Worst case scenario you come up short of whatever you envisioned in your head, but wherever you end up landing will always still be further than wherever you would've been had you not tried at all
As long as you're in motion, failure is literally not within the realm of possibility. It's an outcome that's only reserved for the stationary. The bolder the action, the greater the safety net you ironically create for yourself

Douglas Murray highlights three core issues defining Britain's immigration problem, arguing that identity is the challenge few people are willing to discuss.
He warns that the scale and speed of new arrivals has made integration impossible and created ghettos similar to the communities they've left behind.

She doesn't have a plummy accent. She's a well-to-do middle class girl, for sure. But she's a pretty standard issue of the professional classes. The way Palestinianism - and commie politics - has become socially high status for girls like this is really incredible.
The Spectator is £99 for a one year subscription, much better than this tripe!
Owen Jones has, for the last three years, revealed himself to be a man of enormous courage, integrity and truthfulness. No one should think for a minute that his relentless defence of Palestinian rights and historical truth is easy or comes without heavy personal costs. Throughout the genocide in Gaza, Jones remained a tireless bur rigorous and supremely decent voice. I suspect part of what initially moved him was the strong displeasure in being treated like an idiot by the official propaganda – a noble motive in itself – but there is no question he has been genuinely touched by the images of suffering arriving daily from Gaza. And yet, how does his intellectual fixation on a battle between left and right help us understand the horrors of Gaza, or move us to stop them? My impression is that the opposite has happened. People look at what is happening in Gaza and ask themselves what a person on the right or on the left should think. In many cases this is ideology. In most, simply careerism and group association. Jones shows how limited the perspective really is. How about, like the author himself, asking how a human being should feel? How about returning to the world of facts and feelings rather than our endless Marvel franchise? newstatesman.com/culture/boo…

My attempt at discussing what has driven violent riots & wanton destruction in France (not without interruption). I was also reacting to unhelpfully labelling Kemi Badenoch's mention of challenges of migration y'day, as a Trump-like dog whistle #PoliticsLive

Stella Creasy is not just thick but proud of being thick.
Claire Fox well and truly put Stella Creasy in her place during a fiery clash on Politics Live.
Stella was doing the usual thing of virtue-signalling and accusing others of dog-whistling simply for suggesting the riots in France might have something to do with immigration and a lack of integration. Not the whole story, but a real part of it. Claire gave her both barrels.
Stella claimed: “You are denigrating a community like mine where we have a diverse community.”
Claire pointed out that she has actually read a wide range of French media to understand what is happening. Stella was citing Le Monde. Claire noted that is the equivalent of a British commentator citing only the Guardian.
There is a serious conversation to be had about what is happening in France, Claire said. Young people there appear not to care about the country. They happily smash it up and destroy historic buildings. It is not only about immigration, she made clear, but to claim there is no element of this connected to immigration and the lack of integration of young immigrants is simply missing the point.
If we are going to have a frank and open discussion, she argued, you must at least acknowledge that it is complicated and that there is a massive argument underway among people on many sides.
Claire then told Stella she clearly had no real grasp of the debate because she had only read Le Monde rather than a broad range of French commentators on the left and the right. Stella claimed she had. Claire replied that in that case she would know that many French voices have said the lack of integration of many migrant communities has contributed to this.
Stella just sat there smug, sniping dismissively.
Claire finished by saying that the idea you cannot understand there are tensions in this country around the lack of integration in some migrant communities would be a serious mistake.
Well said, @Fox_Claire. This is the reality. Politicians like Stella who stick their heads in the sand and attack anyone who raises these very real problems do tremendous harm. What is happening in France could happen here. The problem is growing in this country, not getting better.
These conversations need to happen.

Stella Creasy displaying cognitive dissonance. Faced with problems of mass migration and integration the defenders of the status quo respond by defending 'Diversity' and casting aspersions on the motives of critics. The Emperor has no clothes. Everyone can see it bar them.

NR Western region south of Taunton has a 50mph blanket speed restriction Friday 23rd 💨 Let’s hope the trees hold out!
Well said Claire.
Stella Creasy is everything that is wrong with our political system. Refuses to listen or engage with the substance. Infuriating having to debate with these adult toddlers.
