The whole “should the zoo have shot the tiger” debate is a waste of time. They fired warning shots and the tiger fled. They did not “let” an apex predator maul an intellectually disabled man because they thought he had it coming. Tiger maulings simply aren’t always survivable.
Really, the zoo’s need to do better. If you’re going to keep animals captive, nobody but zoo staff should be able to access their enclosures. There should be zero way to scale a wall and just jump into their enclosures ?
The thing is, not only is the tiger in captivity, it’s also an endangered species because of humans 😭. I actually agree that in the moment of an attack, human life should be prioritised but I’m also not mad at the people that are against killing the animal
