Chamath: France Won’t Fix Itself. The Bond Market Must Force Its Hand.
“I think the people have a responsibility to understand the numeric reality in which they are living.
(The French) are living in a state that is spending more than any communist utopia that they hoped to achieve.
Yet the outcomes are broken, which means the system is broken, and you need to reset that.
And the government will not reset it on its own, and so the bond vigilantes will have to do it for them. I think they need to break the back of the French government.”
Jason:
“Okay, there it is. There's the mandate.”
Chamath:
“I think you need to take France to 8% and just break them.”
Jason:
“Yeah, and then all of a sudden, austerity measures, immigration, all this stuff is going to be taken a lot more seriously.”
Chamath:
“At least it'll all be on the table, and they will have to sort out what they're willing to give up.
But right now, if you can skate through this moment, then these things continue to fester, and it is a tinderbox that at some point, again, we know what the trail of breadcrumbs can lead to in terms of fomenting this societal rage.
You cannot allow that to happen.
And so the government has a responsibility now to nip this in the bud in a structural way.”

This is true.
“Musk cited the political establishment’s lack of will as the main reason for the difficulty in reducing the fiscal deficit. He argued, “No one in the White House, Senate, House, or judiciary has the will to cut spending,” and claimed that except for a few like Republican Senator Rand Paul, there are virtually no politicians willing to reduce government spending.

In case you've forgotten just how badly @ashishkjha wanted to force mRNA shots into people
I think I'll skip his biosecurity advice
People, @ashishkjha is "gathering facts" on Russia's plague accident.
Facts:
Ashish was a top-rank Covidian
Public health types have gotten worked up over and over in 2026 (Ebola*, cyclospora, measles, hantavirus)
Stop falling for it.
*Still killing people, but no one cares.

So, @anniejacobsen, in two weeks, once this "plague outbreak" has gone nowhere, will you admit you were hyping nonsense and scaring people to promote your new book for fun and profit?
I know, you don't care, a sale is a sale.
🚨☣️BREAKING: Plague outbreak expands, Russia BSL-3 lab accident - FIVE hospitals now quarantined🚨☣️
The plague outbreak in Siberia, Russia has expanded w/5 hospitals now under QUARANTINE: Irkutsk Hospitals No. 1, No.3, No.10, Ivano-Matreninskaya Children's Hospital, and an unnamed maternity hospital (Lyudi Baikala news, Moscow Times).
Quarantine is NOT voluntary. Even in the U.S., quarantine is among the most extraordinary measures gov't can impose on American citizens who haven't been convicted, or even accused, of committing a crime. Quarantine means being forcibly confined and medically examined by law. U.S. quarantine can be imposed on anyone infected by a legally quarantinable disease listed below (this can change). One should assume Russia's quarantine protocols are even more severe. As of 2026, under Executive Order 14047, legally quarantinable diseases in the U.S. are:
■ Plague
■ Smallpox
■ Viral hemorrhagic fevers
■ Cholera
■ Diphtheria
■ Yellow fever
■ Infectious tuberculosis
■ Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
■ Flu that can cause a pandemic
■ Measles

Great news! President Trump has renounced the terrible idea of a diesel export ban.
Nick Polce retweeted
Diesel is $6.50/gallon—80% higher than last year.
The answer is NOT an export ban. That raises gasoline and jet fuel prices—and alienates key allies.
Real answers: open Hormuz, suspend federal and state taxes, extend Jones Act waivers, and pass permitting reform.
