Chitwan/Chhatian/Saptparni tree is native to India. It’s called Alstonia scholaris. Scholaris came from Scholar’s tree, since used in making black boards. Also called ‘Devil’s tree’ and many beliefs are attached to it.
Flowering gregariously this year.

Chief Secretary Visits Keoladeo, Reviews Conservation Priorities
Shri V. Srinivas, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan, visited Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur, on 5 October 2026.
On his arrival, the Chief Secretary was presented with a Kadam sapling, the “One District, One Tree” species for Bharatpur under the Panchgaurav initiative. He subsequently planted a Kadam sapling at the Shanti Kuteer campus, reaffirming the importance of native trees and ecological stewardship.
During his tour of the Park, the Chief Secretary observed the rich wetland habitat and nesting colonies of Painted Storks and Cormorants in the wetland blocks.
He took keen interest in the remarkable journey of Keoladeo—from a former royal duck-hunting ground to a globally recognised wetland and conservation landscape. The Park administration briefed him on the history of Keoladeo through the historical plaques at the Keoladeo campus, documenting the duck-hunting records of the erstwhile Bharatpur State.
The Chief Secretary also held a detailed discussion with the Park administration on key issues concerning the long-term conservation and management of Keoladeo National Park. A major focus of the interaction was the long-term sustainability of water availability in the Park. The Park administration highlighted the need for a rational and legally supported water-rationing mechanism from Pachana, ensuring that adequate and good-quality water reaches Keoladeo in a timely and sustainable manner.
The visit concluded with the presentation of the Biodiversity Map of Keoladeo, designed to enhance awareness and understanding of the Park’s remarkable biodiversity.

If other flights, including ones of #Indigo6E can take off and land in so called ‘bad weather’ in DED ( Dehradun), how come one flight to Jaipur is delayed by 2 hours (6E7275)?

Where Nature Meets Heritage 🌾🌿
Amidst the young plantations of Dabla Range, Jaisalmer, a traditional Jhopa adorned with terracotta art stands as a beautiful reflection of the region’s cultural roots.
Here, restoring the landscape also means preserving the traditions that have long belonged to it.
Because conservation is not just about growing green, but keeping the story of the land alive. 🌱

A single bird has just accomplished one of the most extraordinary feats in the animal kingdom — flying nearly one-third of the way around the Earth without stopping to eat, drink, or rest.
The record-breaker is a five-month-old Bar-tailed Godwit that flew nonstop from Alaska to Tasmania, Australia. Covering 8,425 miles in just over 11 days, it set a new record for the longest nonstop flight ever documented in any bird.
What makes this journey even more astonishing is that it was the young godwit’s very first migration. The entire route took place over the open Pacific Ocean, with no chance to land. Despite that, the bird navigated thousands of miles of featureless water with pinpoint accuracy.
This incredible endurance is made possible by remarkable physiological adaptations. Before takeoff, the godwit packs on enormous fat reserves — nearly half its body weight — to fuel the flight. At the same time, many of its internal organs, including parts of the digestive system, temporarily shrink to lighten the load and maximize energy efficiency.
Unlike many seabirds that depend heavily on gliding, this godwit flapped continuously for the entire journey, battling shifting winds and weather systems the whole way.
Researchers at the Pūkōroro Auckland Shorebird Centre say discoveries like this are transforming our understanding of migratory birds. Their astonishing endurance, navigation skills, and energy management demonstrate biological capabilities that can match — and in some ways surpass — even the most advanced human engineering.
