Where is the F-16? where is the Turkish Drones attacked the Southwest State..⁉️ Those who suffer defeat shift the blame onto others; the aggressors who attacked Southwest State were defeated. Who were defeated them?Who were they fighting? we don't know all. ✍️
The fight in Baidoa, the capital of Somalia’s South West State, is no longer just a power struggle among Somalis. According to sources on the ground, drones launched from Kenya and Puntland are striking government positions in Baidoa as Al-Shabaab and Laftagareen’s militias advance. The same sources say the UAE is offering soldiers and commanders in the field hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, armoured vehicles and luxury homes in Kenya. mogadishueye.com/2026/10/bai…

Open Letter to President Erdoğan: Halt Alleged Turkish Air Operations in Southwest Somalia President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, I am writing once more since my previous appeals have not been answered. The involvement of foreign military forces in the political conflict in southwest Somalia puts civilian lives at risk and damages the public trust that Türkiye has earned in Somalia. A recent report claims that Turkish military aircraft attacked positions of the Southwest State Darawiish near Berdaale and that three soldiers were killed as a result. In light of these claims and previous unverified allegations concerning Turkish F-16s in the area of Baidoa, there should be an immediate and transparent response. Mr. President, stop any Turkish air operations which put civilians at risk. Don't let Turkish aircraft or military aid be used by Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in his political struggle against the Southwest State. It is impossible to settle a political dispute through airstrikes, and calling Southwest soldiers 'terrorists' does not prove that they are terrorists nor does it get rid of any party's obligation to protect civilians. Foreign military intervention should not force families living near the area where fighting is taking place to abandon their homes just because the conflict is about determining who will govern their region. A warning should be given regarding the consequences of maintaining military involvement: the Somali goodwill towards Turkey might turn into lasting resentment. Nothing political is a sufficient reason for putting civilian safety or the trust between our peoples at risk. I am asking you to halt all Turkish involvement in these operations, to make a public statement on whether or not Turkish aircraft carried out the reported Berdaale strikes, and to back an independent inquiry into the alleged civilian casualties. We should be given a reply. Somalia needs political dialogue, accountability and peace and the people of the southwest deserve to live free from the threat of air strikes. Sheiknor A. Mr. Abdirahman Al-Cadaaq: You Cannot Silence Millions My name is Sheiknor A. Qasim and I live in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. I have over thirty years' experience in government affairs and in international business, having worked with both local and federal governments. I back the earlier administration of Southwest State under Abdiaziz Laftagareen, the Southwest State Daraawiish army, and the constitutional rights of our people. Among the millions of us in the Southwest community whether at home or among those in the diaspora we stand together with our people. You cannot force us to remain silent or make our political support a criminal offence by calling us terrorists. We care about our area and about justice for all Somalis. Since we have the right to speak out against injustice, your government's actions in the Southwest are causing damage to Baydhabo and are putting nearly two million people who are in and around the city at risk. Before you accuse others of being terrorists, Mr. Adaala, you should account for the fear and destruction that the actions of your government are causing among civilians. It is not because we are defending the rights of our community that we are termed terrorists. I shall keep exercising my right to free expression in the United States; your stance does not grant you the power to stop me, and our voices along with our support will carry on. @HassanSMohamud @HESharifShAhmed @HassanAKhaire @UNmigration @Refugees @faaraxsheekh @WilliamsRuto @AbiyAhmedAli @RTErdogan @AliOmarMP @arableague_gs @IsmailOguelleh @WorldBankGroup @UKinSomalia @US2SOMALIA @EU_in_Somalia @_AfricanUnion @UNSomalia @StateDept @chinascio @IMFNews @HouseForeignGOP @AbdirizakOm @ChineseSomalia @Abukar_Arman @antonioguterres @AAbdishakur @DahaShire @AbdulnuurSheikh @Godahbarre @M_Farmaajo @MohamoudGaildon @MPDrAbib @TC_MogadisuBE @camalowfa @abdisalamisma1 @HakanFidan @AfricaMediaHub @MFATurkiye @10DowningStreet @mfa_russia @ItalyinSomalia @MOFAKuwait @UAEinsomalia @SomaliainQatar @AbdiwahabSheik7 @FarahJuxa

I read Ismail H. Warsame’s article, “Grievance Is Not a Mandate”, and found its portrayal of Puntland’s position deeply unfair and rather dismissive. It downplays the fundamental problems that emerged with the federal arrangement back in 2012, during HSM’s first administration. Puntland’s letter was the culmination of a prolonged political and institutional conflict, not some sudden expression of “frustration” or “grievances” following the March 2024 constitutional amendments, nor merely a negotiating tactic aimed at the UN. Frankly, I find that framing deeply disrespectful to the innocent people of Puntland who have suffered the consequences of the FGS’s coercive tactics over the years. I know something of those consequences personally. One of my own relatives was devastated when she was unable to continue her education after secondary school. And what about the development projects that were obstructed or suspended, to name just a few examples? These are real people, lost opportunities and lasting consequences, not merely political grievances to be casually brushed aside. Perhaps it is time for a proper cost–benefit analysis. If the original investment was a poor one, that is hardly an argument for committing yet another generation to paying for it. In economics, we call that the sunk-cost fallacy. In politics, apparently, we call it preserving national unity. Our generation is still paying the price for decisions made by previous generations, and I see no reason why we should continue sacrificing our future to sustain a political arrangement that has repeatedly failed to deliver. The old one-size-fits-all mentality has had its day. And historical sacrifices, however significant, are not a permanent mandate to decide the future of generations yet to come. The founders made their choices in 1998. Our generation has the right to make its own. Curiously, the author insists that secession is not the majority view in Puntland, while simultaneously criticising Deni for making claims about public sentiment without a referendum or polling. Where, then, is the evidence for his own assertion? Surely, the same democratic standard must apply to both sides. Nor should anyone assume that the people of Puntland will simply accept another political arrangement negotiated over their heads. Every society should have a say in determining the political system best suited to its circumstances and aspirations. As for confederation, I find the renewed enthusiasm rather predictable. Some of us @FarahJuxa proposed precisely that arrangement years ago, only to be dismissed or accused of advocating secession. nitter.gq/farahjuxa/status/19232… nitter.gq/dahirseed/status/19839… Even Adeer @alihwarsame was critical of the proposal, if I recall correctly. Confederation might have been a reasonable compromise years ago. Today, it increasingly resembles a last-minute attempt to preserve a political structure whose foundations have already given way. And no, Puntland does not need to actively pursue separation for the existing arrangement to collapse. It seems perfectly capable of achieving that through its own failures and political miscalculations. One must admire the consistency, if nothing else. Puntland has no moral or legal obligation to rescue a failing political arrangement. Ultimately, our first responsibility is to the people of Puntland, their rights, their interests and the future they choose for themselves. Grievance is not a mandate. Neither is history. Puntland First. Its people. Its future. Its right to decide.
Grievance Is Not Mandate: Puntland Built Somalia & Will Not Walk Away From It. Op-Ed ✍️ Ismail Warsame @ismailwarsame ismailwarsame.substack.com/p…

Tick-tock. Tick-tock. Time is running out. You can refuse to acknowledge something, ignore it, or pretend it doesn’t exist. But this situation has existed for 35 years, and the South Central Somali government still refuses to have an honest conversation about it. Now, with Israel recognizing Somaliland, more countries may follow. Whether you like it or not, and whether I agree with every development or not, burying your head in the sand is precisely how we got here. You invited Turkey into the region, and now you are surprised that Israel has entered the equation. You push religious propaganda while ignoring the geopolitical realities staring you in the face. Turkey recognizes Israel, Pakistan 🇵🇰 has little influence over these developments, and Saudi Arabia’s 🇸🇦 position is equally contradictory. You cannot condemn Israel 🇮🇱 politically while reportedly relying on Israeli-linked technology, hardware, or software. If Israeli technology is useful enough to buy, perhaps the outrage should come with a little more consistency. You vilify the United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪 while glorifying Turkey 🇹🇷, and then wonder how you ended up here. The hypocrisy is astonishing. What makes this even more ridiculous is that nearly $100 billion has been spent over the past 40 years, yet you still have a weak political entity propped up by external funding, resembling a Minnesota Somali daycare centre that cannot even spell. After all that money, what exactly has been built that can resolve the fundamental political dispute? If you want the world to avoid recognizing Somaliland, you must first offer a credible counterproposal. And what is the alternative being presented? “Please give us more money to fight the same terrorists we have been fighting for 25 years,” while other countries have managed to defeat comparable threats in far less time. You cannot spend decades avoiding an honest conversation, undermine political agreements, demand endless foreign assistance, and then expect the reality on the ground to disappear. The clock is ticking. The question is whether you are prepared to confront reality or whether you intend to keep pretending it does not exist. Tick-tock. Tick-tock.
🤣🤣 President Trump is exactly right. Somaliland is not Somalia. Well past time for the United States to formally recognize it.

Is Washington Rethinking Its Strategy in South-Central Somalia? The fact that the United States 🇺🇸 describes al-Shabaab as a “tribal-based Islamist insurgency” in its May 2026 Counterterrorism Strategy is far more significant than many seem to realise. What makes this interesting is not merely the choice of words, but what it may signal about how Washington now views the conflict in South-Central Somalia. From being viewed primarily through the lens of international terrorism and al-Qaeda’s global network to being increasingly understood as a locally rooted, clan-based Islamist insurgency. The Bigger Strategic Picture This is where several developments deserve closer examination. Look at the evolution of US policy towards Mogadishu. Look at the growing interest in Puntland, Jubaland and Somaliland. Examine AFRICOM’s airstrikes, their geographical concentration, and how military cooperation has evolved. Then add Washington’s opposition to further funding for AUSSOM. And above all, the recurring American frustration with a war in which towns are recaptured from al-Shabaab at enormous cost, only to be lost again once military forces withdraw. How many times must the same town be liberated? How many times must the same offensive be financed? And for how many more years can a military stalemate be presented as a transition towards stability? After nearly 20 years of international military presence, billions of dollars in aid, and repeated offensives against al-Shabaab, it is a question that deserves to be asked. Is the United States beginning to reconsider not only its strategy against al-Shabaab, but its entire security policy approach towards South-Central Somalia? Source: whitehouse.gov/wp-content/up…

WHO REALLY HELPED BRING DOWN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE This man was Thomas Edward Lawrence — "Lawrence of Arabia": • British intelligence officer, archaeologist, diplomat • Lived among Arab tribes, spoke their language, wore their robes 🕌 • 1916–1918: united and advised Arab forces in the Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule • Sabotaged railways, led guerrilla campaigns, helped drive Ottoman power from the region • And then… the betrayal — Britain & France had already signed the Sykes-Picot Agreement carving up the lands for themselves They promised independence. They delivered division. They used the local people to break an empire — then became the new rulers. They never learned. One empire leaves → another takes its place → same pattern, different flag. History doesn't just repeat — it warns. And still they do the same things all over again. ⚠️ #LawrenceOfArabia #SykesPicotBetrayal #HistoryWarns 🌍🕊️
History Repeats Itself! The Ottoman Empire established control over the Hejaz (current Saudi Arabia) in 1517, presenting its presence as a means of defending the region against Portuguese expansion. Ottoman rule over that part of the Arabian Peninsula continued for three centuries, until 1811, when its authority was ultimately challenged and dismantled through a series of Arab uprisings and political struggles. The rise of the First Saudi State, associated with Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and the House of Saud, was central to this historical transformation with the help of Britain, amid wider regional and international rivalries. The best option of Saudi Arabia contemporary issues with Yemen is to reconcile with the Houthis, not to invite foreign countries, i.e, Turkey and Pakistan into the local conflicts - otherwise this will lead back to square one. History offers an important lesson: Turkey’s regional ambitions should be assessed through its historical record and present-day actions, not merely its diplomatic rhetoric. Othman

BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE - FROM THE CAPITAL OF PUNTLAND The right to self-determination belongs first and foremost to the people who live in #Puntland, build Puntland, invest in Puntland, and defend Puntland. This conversation does not belong in Nairobi. It does not belong in Mogadishu, London, or any other diaspora conference room. It belongs in Puntland. I am always struck by diaspora voices telling people back home to preserve the status quo while they live thousands of miles away from the consequences. 🔘 They do not watch their economic opportunities disappear. 🔘 They do not send their sons and daughters into the mountains. 🔘 They do not bury soldiers who gave their lives defending Puntland. And they do not have to live with the consequences when outside political interests attempt to weaken Puntland’s institutions and security forces. Those who live in #Puntland have earned the right to determine what comes next. Tomorrow’s political conversation matters. The conversations after that matter even more. The future of Puntland should be decided by the people who will actually have to live with the consequences. By the people. For the people. From Puntland. Glory to the fatherland. Glory to Puntland. Defeat to terrorism and those who seek to undermine Puntland.

The great philosopher Ibn Khaldun discussed in his remarkable book The Muqaddimah the idea that “a person is a product of their environment” (الإنسان ابن بيئته). A person is shaped by the environment in which they grow up and develop. According to Ibn Khaldun, a person’s character, behaviour, experiences, morals, and way of life are not determined by their ethnicity or ancestry, but rather by the environment in which they were raised, the customs and traditions around them, and the people with whom they associate. In other words, if you are ethnically from Gaalkacyo but were born, raised, and spent your life in Marka, then you are, in many respects, a product of Marka and the environment in which you grew up. As for Omar Abdirashid, Abdisaid Muse Ali, Ahmed Isse Awad and Mohamed Abdirizak, they are Puntlanders only to the same extent that Mohamed Abdullah Hassan could be considered a native of the Somali Region of Ethiopia. In fact, I would argue that they have even less of a connection. These two men, along with many others, have never contributed financially to Puntland’s affairs. I doubt they have even spent a full week living in #Puntland, let alone contributed financially or helped build its infrastructure. They have never meaningfully contributed to Puntland, not even to the areas associated with their own sub-clans. Furthermore, these are men who ride on the coattails of the political platforms they belong to. They have benefited from the name of Puntland, securing positions of power through it, while also capitalising on their Majeerteen identity. Both have used these identities to advance their political careers. Yet, if the people of Majeerteen territory were to ask either man today what they have actually done for them, neither would be able to point to any meaningful contribution. This is the problem with being represented by people who share your ethnic identity but have never shared your environment, while ethnicity is treated as the defining factor in everything. The philosophical argument of Ibn Khaldun provides a compelling example through these two men.

The other day I watched Hassan Sheikh at the 🇺🇳 UN. The hall was almost empty, but there he was talking about Somalia moving forward, security improving and everything heading in the right direction. I kept listening and thinking… what Somalia is he talking about? Then I looked at him standing there at the podium and, for some reason, I thought of the violinists on the Titanic. You know the scene. The ship is sinking. Water is pouring in. People are panicking. But the violinists keep playing. I couldn’t get that image out of my head. The water keeps rising. The ship keeps sinking. And there’s Hassan at the podium, still playing the violin as if everything is going perfectly according to plan.

Asking a man who has violated federalism and assisted in the systematic attack on Puntland during his time as a minister under the wannabe dictator Farmaajo, followed by his subsequent performative political cosplay, is quite something. This is the same individual who has tried to undermine Puntland’s counterterrorism operations and its campaign in the mountains, while manufacturing propaganda against Puntland by pushing the claim about 500,000 hazardous-waste containers entering through Bosaso. That was a deliberate attempt to undermine Puntland’s economic heartbeat. A month ago, he was also supporting Hassan’s militia operating within #Puntland territory, specifically in Mudug. What’s even more troubling is that he tried to use subclan division tactics, something that doesn’t work on the Puntland. Yet here we have the same individual who has done everything possible to undermine Puntland being welcomed by the very cathedral of undermining Puntland: @SomaliaPdrc Welcome to the HQ Cathedral of “Let’s go to Mogadishu”
In his keynote address, "From Bargain to Constitutional Order: Political Settlement, Federalism and Constitutional Governing Capability in Somalia," @4rukun Abdisaid Ali, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, asks what Somalia's political history has taught Somalis about power. Somalia has repeatedly negotiated political settlements, reconstructed governments and created constitutional arrangements — yet major political disputes still return political actors to bargaining over the basic terms of the state. His answer begins with collapse. Civil war destroyed the institutions that organised security and political competition; communities adapted through kinship, armed organisation and territory; and reconciliation later restored bargaining. Federalism, he argues, turned part of that bargain into political insurance, and peace operations created the security space in which new institutions could develop. What is missing is the final conversion — institutions capable of providing political security themselves. #APC2026
