The world's leading carriers and brokers have endured for decades, some for centuries. Legacy and innovation have been the constants.
Many of these institutions were pioneers of machine learning, and are now leaning into the massive opportunity with AI. We are grateful to partner with them as they shape what comes next.
Pace CEO @jamiecuffe reveals why the same industry that pioneered machine learning accidentally built the perfect market for AI agents, with $400B of outsourced work ready to automate:
"Many of these folks were pioneers of machine learning, the prior generations of models to help with underwriting risk, and now they're leaning into the opportunities with AI."
"Insurance is also the largest vertical for BPO outsourcing, which is where we've seen agents take off, because they already have standard operating procedures. These tasks are well chunked up for agents."
"Banking, financial services, insurance spends $400 billion on outsourcing every year. To put that in context, that is the entire size of the enterprise software market. You total up Salesforce, ServiceNow, et cetera, that's the size of the BPO spend every year."

We got to know Jamie as a college intern at Sequoia, and have built maximum conviction in him over the years. Pace is off to the races with exactly the right AI-native solution for the massive insurance industry. We are beyond thrilled to double down on Pace!
Today, Pace has raised a $46 million Series B, co-led by @ThriveCapital and @Sequoia, with participation from @emergencecap and @pruvencapital, to help our customers insure more of the world’s risk.
@pacecom agents have completed more than 250,000 critical insurance operations, growing 3x every quarter. The world’s leading insurers, like Prudential, WTW and Convex, trust Pace to scale back-office operations.
60% of the world's losses last year went uninsured. Closing this $9 trillion protection gap starts with AI-native operations.

The first wave of AI gave workers better tools. The next wave does the work entirely for them. That's what @pacecom is doing in insurance: autonomous agents handling submissions, claims intake, and data entry end to end. Thrilled to continue partnering with Jamie and the Pace team.

The scaffolding is coming off AI agents. The way we build with AI agents is changing yet again.
@jamiecuffe at @pacecom talks through how to build a vertical software company that accelerates along with every step change in model capability.
With AI, the goal isn’t just to do the same work as humans. AI can handle the rote tasks and free people to apply our judgment wherever it’s needed most.

Everyone asks: "Can AI really be as accurate as a human?"
The honest answer? It has to be more accurate.
Ops teams hire thousands and hope they all perform like the top 1%. But humans get tired. They have bad days. Quality variance is a feature of the model.
At @pacecom, we solve for that variance. You scale the judgment of your absolute best worker—the one who never misses an edge case—infinite times.
I joined @laurenmhreeder and @gradypb on @sequoia's Training Data podcast to talk about why the next decade of operations isn't just about labor arbitrage. It's about perfect consistency.

The insurance business boils down to sales, math, and operations. @pacecom applies AI to operations enabling the industry to repatriate everything from quotes to claims thus ensuring a superior client experience and lower insurance costs for all of us. Thrilled to partner with @jamiecuffe for a second time. He was born to do this!
Today we’re announcing Pace has raised $10M led by Sequoia to build the AI operations partner for the world’s leading insurers.
Insurance exists to do something remarkable: turn uncertainty into security. But between that sits an enormous amount of operational friction: processing submissions, servicing policies, and adjudicating claims.
Leading insurers have already completed tens of thousands of these complex insurance transactions with @pacecom agents in production. Check out our team showing what this looks like in practice: agents which work across systems and modalities to complete work end to end.

The gap between "impressive demo" and "production work at regulated enterprises" is where most AI companies go to die. @withpace is bucking the trend, processing tens of thousands of tasks monthly at some of the largest insurers in the world. An epic example of long-running agents doing their thing.
Congrats @jamiecuffe, @lmramirez_, @yeauxgi, @YonahMann and the whole team on the series A! We’re thrilled to be your partners.

Automating one workflow is easy.
Automating every workflow in insurance operations is hard.
It requires:
- Deep AI + engineering + product thinking
- Interfaces operators trust by default
- Reliability that holds up in mission-critical conditions
- Fluency across customers, edge cases, infrastructure, and UX
That’s the work Yogi Seetharaman does.
I was lucky to first meet @yeauxgi at Retool where he helped build the core product as engineer #2. Before that, he was a YC-backed founder. He builds foundational systems — the kind other teams and products depend on.
At @pacecom, he’s been core to making our agent platform scale reliably for the largest insurers across mission-critical use cases.
Today, model capabilities improve rapidly and you have to build for where the industry is heading. Many legacy players force customers into building workflow graphs stitching together custom code and LLM calls to automate work. But the reason there is so much BPO work is that most of these processes can’t be handled deterministically, they require human judgement. Yogi championed our Agent Operating Procedures to build agents with just natural language that can reason through tasks the same way humans do.
Yogi doesn’t just ship fast for our customers. He builds products that move the industry forward.
Thank you Yogi, glad to be building this together.

We’ve moved into our new HQ in NYC to support our growing team! 📈
For the last few months, the Pace team has been heads-down building the agentic workforce for insurance. We needed a space that matches the ambition of the mission: somewhere we can work with customers, build across engineering & GTM, and ship fast.
We designed this office to support both deep engineering work and the rapid iteration required to serve our enterprise customers.
Two favorite spots so far:
1) The engineering floor. Floor-to-ceiling views of the city that remind us of the scale of the industry we’re transforming.
2) The lounge. This is where the real magic happens during our Friday demos. (And yes, the tree is huge 🎄).
We are gearing up to ship a ton for our customers in 2026.
If you’re an engineer or operator looking to build something that fundamentally changes how the insurance industry operates, come grab a coffee with us.
We’re hiring. Link below. 👇
