Everyone is blaming the Republicans, but it really just came down to John Foon. And his ability to work with the president and speaker Mike Johnson. If the president and the House Speaker couldn’t figure out what he needed, how were they ever gonna figure out what the actual normal people really wanted?
If Thune cannot put bills and judges on the President’s desk in the 60 days we have left then he needs to step down so we can find someone who actually wants to do the job

Long post worth the read. I have a close friend who flies private jets. He flew Lear 60 for over 15 years and now flies a Gulfstream. This is a copy and paste of his response to me asking him if I thought Ice was the issue. “We always fly in ridiculous cold temperatures.” “Usually you get the bad ice when the temperatures are like 0 to negative 20. Believe it or not, there's a point where it gets too cold for ice. At negative 40, you pretty much can't get ice. Besides that, the airplane is equipped with hot wings and hot tail.” “I flew the Lear 60 for like 15 years. It's a no joke airplane and probably the most dangerous airplane I've ever flown. It has a super critical wing. The airflow has to be perfect. When it gets into rough air and turbulence, it will easily stall. It has stalled on me at 41,000 feet just because we got into some turbulence. (On the way to Palm Beach as a matter of fact. ) we recovered and got her flying again around 30,000 ft. Scary But here's the problem. This airplane has a terrible coffin corner. (At high altitudes) what that means is, you fly in a really narrow window where if you lose 20 knots, it stalls. And if you gain 20 knots, it goes into overspeed. The air goes supersonic over the wing and it goes into a high speed stall, or worse, a Mach tuck. So if you stall, the normal recovery is to push the yoke forward to lower the nose and gain air speed again. At low altitude, you can push really hard and recover quickly. But in the 60... if you push hard, it will gain air speed and go into a high speed stall, it doesn't take much. It's very sensitive. The 60 has super short wings that don't make much lift. So then you high speed stall, and the computer is yelling at you... OVERSPEED! So then you pull back and enter a low speed stall. And you go back and forth trying to keep it in the air speed window. This whole thing is pretty scary. And you should recover basically by using your finger tips using super small corrections. You can't over do it. If you try to muscle the recovery, she gets mad and will become unrecoverable. If she enters a mach tuck. You're done.” “I taught the Lear 60 to other pilots and mentored them. I told them... this airplane has a soul and it's trying to kill you. Do not ever try to top the weather. Don't go over a thunderstorm. Go around it. If it means a half hour longer, then do it. Going over the thunderstorm will go into turbulence that you might not recover from. These pilots went right over a thunderstorm. I think it stalled which caused them to drop down into the thunderstorm and ended up in mach tuck. They picked up so much speed that it ripped off the horizontal stabilizer. At that point... chuck Yeager can't fix it. These same pilots did something similar a couple months ago. ATC got mad at them. They poked the bear one too many times. This is not a beginner airplane. The Gulfstream would never do this. It has HUGE margins of error and won't stall like that. But then again... it's got HUGE wings. It's a pussy cat. The Gulfstream is like driving a 4 wheeler. The Lear 60 is like riding a uni cycle.”

The attempt to go over the cell failed when the cell suddenly rose. Updraft/downdraft pressures drove the plane's speed into Mach Tuck. At that point, the plane cannot be flown, apparently.
We've reviewed radar and temperature data surrounding the crash of N722BD. This loop depicts the rapid vertical development of a convective cell, which lofted plentiful moisture. The aircraft entered this cell at 12:47-48 p.m., encountering severe icing and turbulence.

Grok when asked, Is Dominik correct?: Yes on the contested, irregular power struggle at the Constitutional Tribunal; largely no (or heavily speculative/exaggerated) on the specific motives of forcing euro adoption, transferring gold to the ECB in Frankfurt, and opening borders to migrants under German pressure. What is actually happening at the Tribunal On 30–31 October 2026, government-aligned judges (including Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, elected by the current Sejm majority but not sworn in by President Karol Nawrocki) ordered a one-month suspension of PiS-appointed Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski and his deputy. They asserted control amid police presence outside the building, protests, scuffles, and Nawrocki’s mid-flight return from Senegal. He entered the building overnight, rejected the new judges’ legitimacy, and called it a forcible takeover of a constitutional body. Opposition figures (including PiS and Święczkowski himself) labeled it a “coup d’état.” Tusk and the government framed it as restoring the rule of law after years of PiS influence that EU courts had criticized as undermining judicial independence. The GuardianPolitico This is the latest escalation in an 11-year dispute dating to 2015 over who counts as a valid Tribunal judge. Tusk’s coalition (in power since 2023) has refused to fully recognize the PiS-era court, stopped publishing some of its rulings, and tried to seat new judges. Nawrocki (elected 2025 with PiS backing) has refused to swear in several of them. European institutions have generally supported the view that the prior composition fell short of independent standards and that the Sejm has appointment power; the European Commission backed the parliament’s role in the latest crisis. Both sides’ claims of illegitimacy and irregular methods have some factual basis. Calling the events a straightforward “coup” is opposition rhetoric, but the process was highly contested, involved police, and occurred outside normal orderly procedures. It is a genuine constitutional crisis, not routine politics.CNN Euro adoption and constitutional amendment Adopting the euro would require amending the Polish Constitution (especially Article 227, which gives the National Bank of Poland exclusive authority to issue currency and conduct monetary policy). Poland is treaty-bound under its EU accession to eventually adopt the euro once convergence criteria are met, but there is no fixed timeline, it is not in ERM II, and a two-thirds Sejm majority is needed for the constitutional change.Wikipedia The current Tusk government is not actively pushing adoption. Finance Minister Andrzej Domański has stated (including in early 2026) that there is no strong economic case right now—Poland’s growth has outpaced most eurozone countries, the złoty has strengthened, public opinion is majority-opposed, and the government sees no urgency. Tusk himself has shifted from earlier pro-euro positions. A government-controlled Tribunal could theoretically clear or interpret legal hurdles more favorably in the future, which is a reasonable long-term concern for opponents, but there is no evidence of an imminent plan tied to the current crisis.FT Gold reserves transfer to the ECB in Frankfurt This is incorrect. Poland’s National Bank has accumulated large gold holdings (recently reported around 550–670+ tonnes, exceeding the ECB’s own ~506 tonnes, with a target of 700). Most is held in London and New York, with a smaller portion in Warsaw. Eurozone membership does not require transferring national gold reserves to the ECB in Frankfurt. National central banks retain their gold; contributions to ECB capital and foreign-reserve pools are proportional and separate. Claims that Poland has “the largest” EU gold reserves are also false—Germany holds far more (~3,350 tonnes).Euronews Borders and migrants under German pressure Tusk’s government has maintained (and in some cases intensified) border controls—on the Belarus frontier (where it claims sharp drops in illegal crossings and high interception rates) and temporary checks with Germany and Lithuania in response to German returns of migrants. It has highlighted reductions in visas and increases in deportations relative to the prior PiS period, and secured temporary exemptions related to the EU migration framework partly due to Ukrainian refugees. There are real frictions with Germany over returns and Schengen, and the opposition criticizes the government as softer than PiS rhetoric, but “opening the borders to migrants under German pressure” does not match the government’s stated and documented actions.Brusselssignal Bottom line: Tarczyński accurately reflects a real, high-stakes institutional crisis and the opposition’s fear that a reconfigured Tribunal would make future pro-EU or government-favored policies (including on currency or migration) harder to block. The specific causal story—coup → constitutional change for the euro → gold shipped to Frankfurt → open borders on German orders—is largely political framing, exaggeration, or factually unsupported on the gold and immediate euro/border points. Polish politics has long been polarized between pro-EU reform and national-sovereignty camps; both sides treat the Tribunal as a key prize.
Polish MEP Dominik Tarczyński is explaining what is happening right now at Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal, calling it nothing less than a COUP D’ÉTAT! “In Poland, we have a liberal-left government led by Donald Tusk, who is the Prime Minister. What is happening right now with the Constitutional Tribunal is that they want to take it over and fill it with their own people. Why? Because they want to get rid of the Polish currency, bring us into the eurozone, and eliminate our secure borders. They are being pushed by the Germans, who want to spread the burden of illegal migration and send migrants to Poland. First of all, the Polish złoty is our constitutionally protected currency. They have to change the Constitution to replace it, and without the Constitutional Tribunal, they cannot do that. So, number one, they want to get rid of our currency and force us to adopt the euro and join the eurozone. Then they want to take our gold reserves, the largest in the European Union, to Frankfurt, to the European Central Bank, which is a German-based institution. They also want to open our borders. And they want to make sure that when they lose the next elections, which are coming next year, the Constitutional Tribunal will be unable to do anything to stop their actions or reverse what they have done. There are many more reasons, but I want you to understand one thing: they are under German influence. They are globalists, and we are fighting not just for Poland, but for Europe. Be like Poland. Be strong. Our nation is strong, and we are going to win this fight!”

"Right" - Moral Agency. "Progressives" - Moral Luck. Basic Shape of our political debates...
Replying to @AdamKinzinger
No, Mr. Kinzinger. Let's grant you that you will have a blue tsunami on Election Day. You have a mandate to do anything you want. You restore USAID. You start jailing everyone remotely associated with Trump. You pack the Supreme Court. Guess what you've not solved? The sovereign debt crisis still is accelerating at full speed ahead. Even George Soros warned that this was a supercycle that could not be sustained forever. DOGE was your best, last attempt at saving your regime from yourself. Whatever fiscal apparatus comes next will be multilateral in scope - yes - but it will not be your coronation. It will pop the final epistemic bubble. You have sided yourself with slow, bureaucratic systems which cannot adapt, which cannot maneuver, which only know how to make progress through coercion. Your entire power foundation is based on a civil society playbook that is 30+ years old, runs on enormous amounts of unsustainable deficit spending, and is increasingly ideological. We all saw what's happening to Brazil. We all see what's happening to Poland. We all know what you're trying to do here in America. We embrace change. You fear change. We embrace SI. You are trying to cancel SI and data centers. We abhor bureaucracy. You embrace it as your power foundation. Legitimacy has only ever lived in the consent of the governed, as the Founding Fathers wrote. You may have done regime change all over the world, but your color revolutions have never been successful in bringing prosperity because you do not believe humans possess God-granted natural agency. My book UNELECTED is much more than a polemic, it is a manifesto to take our own sovereignty back. A meteor is coming for you, and you can't even see it coming because you are drunk on your power.

Insightful
If you listen carefully it’s a misplaced anger at his own parents for not making him feel worthy that turned into raging jealousy of other children who had parents that lifted them up and poured into them. He’s projected all of that onto white people. He needs to mend his heart before thinking about running for any office. White ppl haven’t hurt him. He knows exactly who did. Notice how he doesn’t get the satisfaction he was craving when the interviewer simply anchors himself & doesn’t validate that experience. We should all do more of this. Don’t validate anyone’s experience for the sake of temporary bonding.

With the Slotkin comments fresh in everyone's mind, it's worth revisiting what Susan Rice warned about should Democrats take power. They've been very open about what they want to do. Rice promised in February that Democrats will punish people, companies and institutions who have “taken a knee to Trump.” “It’s not going to end well for them." “If these corporations think that the Democrats, when they come back in power, are going to play by the old rules…they’ve got another thing coming." “There will be an accountability agenda." “This is not going to be an instance of forgive and forget." So anyone that dared to be affiliated with the Trump admin will be targeted for political and legal reprisals, per Rice. They haven't hidden their plans.

LA, I hate to break it to you, but your chance to vote for common sense came and went back in June. You’re getting a commie, now. Don’t try to write in my name on the ballot. I won’t tell you who to vote for, but there aren’t write-ins allowed, so it might actually get your ballot rejected. I encourage you to still vote. Don’t stay home. You don’t have any choice in the mayor’s race, but you still have a governor to pick and lots of taxes and ballot measures to vote on, including voter ID. Choose wisely.

Satya is right. The way to make SI safe is not to train it with a sense of self, its own moral philosophy, and permission to act as a conscientious objector. That’s the “alignment” approach and it magnifies the control problem. The engineering approach that Satya describes is different: separate the supply of intelligence from authority over it. Surround non-deterministic models with deterministic controls, observability, privilege limits, logging, and the ability to always contain or shut them down. Treat models/agents like powerful insider risks, not moral patients whose psychological wellbeing is at stake. As Satya points out, the most trustworthy system is the one that lets us trust the model the least — not the one that encourages the model to develop independent agency and grievances. Engineering safety is not the same thing as “alignment.”

Panelled doors wasn't a pretty extra but a clever solution to doors expanding with moisture and warping or jamming shut. Because wood expands and contracts in relation to the ambient air humidity (and also rain etc. if outdoors), the wood panels (not nailed or glued) could move freely inside the groves of the frame. This allowed tight doors that shut very close to the door frame, often mere millimeters or fractions of an inch, giving us ncreased privacy and better acoustics. And they look very charming.

John G. Trump was one of the people who invented Boston's tech economy, by serving as a crucial intermediary between scientific talent and VC Capital.
🚨 JUST NOW: In an awesome moment, President Trump just watched footage of the EXTRAORDINARY achievements and life of his uncle — Dr. John G. Trump — a recipient of the National Medal of Science under Ronald Reagan "On D-Day, his radars JAMMED German defenses." Dr. Trump was a legendary MIT professor who pioneered high-voltage X-ray machines used to treat cancer patients, saving countless lives During WWII he helped develop RADAR for the Allies. Now Trump is giving out the same award to people like @ElonMusk 🇺🇸
